Work method of Staking Out


General Description
Staking out is, at its most basic, the laying out of survey points on the ground to act as a guide for constructing
site improvement . Staking out performed at the beginning of the project to make sure that the project is built
according to plan.
Staking Out provides the location and grade for Track construction this is a crucial step in the process. If the Site
location are not staked properly, it can be a very costly mistake for the construction. Staking out will establish a
coordinate network with horizontal and vertical controls from the beginning of the project and use it to calculate
and determine the exact level.
Ensure that a qualified personl with the proper surveying knowledge and experience is conducting staking out.
Procedure of Stacking Out
Determine location of Bench Mark as basic coordinat.
Determine target of survey such as track alignment, polygon, Existing Situation, Cross Section, Long Section
and Measurement.
Survey points and survey control points for monitoring railway track levels must be established before any
construction works are carried out.
It must minimise the risk to railway operations as well as track surveyors. It must be possible to undertake
the survey remote from the track. Viewing of survey targets must be from a position away from the track and
the survey position must be secure.
Equipment
The equipment used may be of an optical survey type with readings taken using an optical survey instrument to
observe the levels of rail-mounted targets which is Theodolit, Total Station, Waterpass/Level.
Safety
During execution the track survey work, assign train watcher in both of direction.
Wear safety vest with the bright colour in order to clear visibility.
Make sure that you are occupying the proper track in areas where there is double track.

Working Time
Staking Out can be done in day time only and no rainy day time during the free of train operation and or at
window time and or at windows.
Coordination
Prior commenced this work coordination shall be carried out with Train Dispatcher (PPKA) at both of nearest
station. Arrange permittance and maintain keep good communication in order to train operation approach.
All equipment and tools shall be removed from the site working area so that there is no risk to the train operation
