12.

Duty Expectations

Al Qemma first priority is to ensure safety of each member of its school community. To ensure that,
the staff are expected to actively monitor and supervise childrens safety in/out class, during class
transitions, canteen, playground as well as arrivals and dismissal time.
All staff are expected to escort and walk their students to the next period [Period one teachers to
take their students from the morning assembly/pods]
All staff are expected to be on duty and actively supervise students safety in assigned areas
according to arranged schedule.
All staff with classes prior to canteen break must escort and walk their students to the canteen.
All staff with classes after canteen are expected to escort and walk their students to their class [or
playground according to the schedule].
Homeroom teachers on duty are expected to escort their students to the playground, actively
monitor students safety and then walk them back to classrooms/pods.
During break time [canteen/playtime], staff members on duty are expected to monitor specific
sections of the canteen/playground and be proactive in identifying bullying behaviors and/or
resolving other student concerns.
All period seven teachers are expected to escort and walk their students to the busses for dismissal.
Staff on duty are expected to monitor students waiting for private cars in the waiting area
[reception].
Any serious bullying or misbehavior during canteen/playtime should be reported to the social
worker.
13. Health & Safety [Student Illness/Injuries]

All Al Qemma staff members are responsible for observing children for any symptoms of illness or
injury and reporting these the School Nurse. The following procedures are to be used if a child has
any symptoms of illness or injury [examples of symptoms, but not limited to, sore throat,
inflammation of the eyes, fever, lice, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.]:
The student should be immediately sent to the school nurse.
The School Nurses diagnosis will determine the action to be undertaken.
