Lesson Plans/Topics Focus:

- Identification of Sexuality (In terms of the Biological Body)
- Sexuality and biological body are two different things
- Brain, Chromosomes, Hormones Genes
- Types of Sexuality
- The research shows that the portion of the brain that helps regulate sexuality
the hypothalamus reacted the exact same way in straight women and gay men when
exposed to male pheromones, which are chemicals designed to provoke a behavior,
such as sexual arousal. The same area of the brain only became stimulated in
heterosexual men when introduced to female pheromones.
- The Myth of Biological Gender
- The latest scientific research shows that homosexuality and bisexuality are
normal variations of biological diversity.
- Leaving out a lot of other sexual identities. May make people who
have those identities feel like they are not normal.
Method of implementation in NIST:
The implementation of the science behind being a part of the LGBT community in the curriculum
can be done by talking to Science teacher such as:
Ms. Perry
Ms. Lea
Ms. Lacey
After consulting these teachers the next step would be to talk to the person who is in charge of
adding subject topics into the curriculum.
Method of implementation in the classroom:
After getting consent from the teacher and the headmaster, the next step would be to think
about how to actually present the information in the classroom, so the message is delivered to
the students appropriately.
The information will be presented to the students verbally with slides (images) supporting the
ideas presented.
Maybe leave this part to the teachers since they have a lot of experience and are probably
better suited to figure out how to relay said information to their classes.

Unit 10.1: Cell Form and Function

- Chromosomes defines genitalia of the baby ( XX is
considered female while XY is considered male )
- Designation of gender at birth
- Babies are usually assigned gender
by the genitals they have (as in girls (people with XX
chromosomes) have vaginas whereas boys (people with XY
chromosomes) have penises)
- However a lot of people (0.05%,
source) have ambiguous genitalia.
- These people are
considered intersex but what constitutes being intersex is
not discreetly defined and the estimates for what percent
of the world population is intersex varies from 1% to 2%
(about the same percentage as people with naturally red
hair
- More on intersex
people
- Terms used to talk about said designation (might
not be strictly science but its better to talk about it at the same time as
designation of gender. Its important to talk about so trans and nonbinary
people dont feel dysphoric)
- AFAB/DFAB/FAAB - Assigned
Female At Birth / Designated Female At Birth / Female Assigned
At Birth
- AMAB/DMAB/MAAB - Assigned
Male At Birth / Designated Male At Birth / Male Assigned At
Birthday
- CAFAB - Coercively Assigned
Female At Birth
- CAMAB - Coercively Assigned Male
At Birth
- Coercively emphasises that the
gender was assigned against their will and they went through
abuse like conversion therapy for transgender people
- Things to not say: biological
gender/sex genetic gender/sex natal gender/sex
- Is it ethical to label people JUST by their genitals?
What other variables should be taken into consideration?

Unit 10.4: Body System

- 2. Biological actions take place in response to external and

internal changes to maintain stable body conditions.

Hormones puberty
- Puberty stopper/blockers available
for transgender and nonbinary people. They basically delay
puberty. Most often used if the person is unsure of whether they
want to get sex confirmation surgery or not.
- Hormones taken by transgender and
nonbinary people if they want to change the gender they present
as
- Hormones
- chemical substances that help to
regulate processes in the body
- Larger amounts of Testosterone
male
- Larger amounts of Estrogen +
progesterone female
-

Psychology introduction: biological level of analysis (BLOA)

- Can also mention that homosexuality and bisexuality are sexualities displayed in
many other (over 100, I think) species in nature

Little to no research for some sexualities

- Bisexuality x
- Asexuality and a-spec people - no conclusive research

Activity: read articles, research more if need additional information, draw on a page
