Design Principles
One design principle that was new to me was maintaining consistent patterns, whether
it be with typeface, font size, or spacing. I had heard somewhere before that our brains
have a natural tendency to find patterns whether they be visually or audibly and I feel
that maintaining these visual patterns in a resume will make it appear more organized,
neat, and concise.
Another principle that I want to implement into my resume is moderation. By allowing
myself to leave blank white space in my resume, it not only creates less pressure to not
fill it with meaningless information but also maintains the resumes neatness. By leaving
just enough blank space where appropriate, the resume can look less cluttered and
more visually appealing. The reader will not be overwhelmed with having to read a lot
and is instead left with neat, succinct information.

iFixit Proposal
The audience for our iFixit proposal are the tech moderators of iFixit, people who are
undoubtedly passionate about the site and what the site aims to do. iFixit ultimately
strives to provide detailed, coherent guides on how to fix certain electronic devices in
order to decrease e-waste and for this reason, I believe the purpose of our proposal is
to communicate a clear understanding of this goal and exemplify a similar passion. The
purpose of the proposal and the entire assignment in general should exceed far more
than just receiving a good grade and getting credit; rather by showing a clear
understanding of iFixits goal and how to achieve said goal, I believe that would far
better persuade the tech moderators to allow us to go through with the project.

Original Paragraph: Majority Vote: When a conflict arises, propose various solutions as
a group. The various solutions will then be voted on and majority vote wins. For every
offense a group member commits, he/she must buy snacks for the entire group in
consolidation
Revised Paragraph: Our group will propose and discuss various solutions when
conflicts arise. Afterwards we will vote on the solutions and majority vote wins. A group
member will purchase snacks for the entire group for every offense he/she commits.

Writing Progress
I feel that as a writer, I have improved on using more active verbs. Prior to the activities
in this class I was always using the passive voice or helping verbs. Now I feel I am
creating more active statements to get straight to the point.

Cover Letter
1. Do they use adequateand specific enoughevidence to support their claims?
Examples to illustrate them?
Letter #2 uses specific evidence to support their claims; Letter #1 uses their
papers as evidence but fails to explain how they support their claims.
2. What else about these portfolios documents do the authors analyze in their
letters?
Both letters analyze how theyve met the SLOs and their improvement as writers.
3. How do these authors organize their discussions of our SLOs? Do you like this?
How do you plan to do it?
Both letters organize their discussions by analyzing their different papers/writings
and how each demonstrate the SLOs. I do like this format and plan to mirror it,
choosing my best pieces of work to exhibit my understanding of the SLOs.
4. What kind of tone, style, and format do these authors use? To what extent is
each effective?
Both of the authors use a formal, persuasive tone in the present tense. This is
extremely effective because it feels as though the information is being presented
to you in real time, just like a persuasive presentation might be.
