THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving at my house is
very hectic. My stepmom is
always rushing to get done last
minute cooking. Everyone
wakes up at 7:00am to get an
early start at cooking. We
usually spend thanksgiving with
our neighbors. We always
decide last second whose house
we our doing it at. So that brings
last minute cleaning and setting
the table. Thanksgiving is a
great day to spend catching up
with family and friends.
Though it takes lots of work its
all worth it at the end of the day.
Cooking
Since my family, our neighbors,
and all others who join use cook
something so we have lots of
food. There are two turkeys,
macaroni and cheese casserole,
chicken, green bean casserole,
salads, stuffing, fruit salad, corn
bread, mashed potatoes with
gravy, sweet potatoes with
marshmallows on top, cookies,
and a variety of pie. Even
though most of the food is
prepared the night before theres
still a lot of cooking to get done.
The girls are usually in one
house cooking and setting up
while the boys
are in the other
watching and
playing
football, but the boys help us out
by cooking the turkey.
Thanksgiving morning consists
of that in the later afternoon
around 5:00pm is when we eat.

Sometimes we eat a little earlier

or later depending on everyones
work schedule.
Seats
Setting the table is something
that my sister and I do. We use
paper or plastic plates, plastic
silverware, napkins with turkeys
printed on them, clear plastic
cups, and decorations/center
pieces on the table. All the
plastic silverware and the paper
plates may not seem that fancy
like most
people bring
out the good
dishes for
thanksgiving
but with all the dishes everyone
decided to use disposable
supplies. We all have specific
seats its like an unspoken rule.
There are three tables two to sit
at one table for the little kids six
and under and one for those who
are older. The third table is
where all the food is. It might
look pretty but the cleanup is
dreadful. But I only have to
clean everything up every other
year because my sister and I do
a year then my stepmom and
dad does the next.
Time to Eat
The best time of this whole
holiday the food. First we all
get our drinks. Next we all take
our seats. Then we go around
the table and say what we our
thankful for. After that we go
get our food then take our seats
again. Last we say pray. Then

finally we get to eat everyones

favorite time of the day. While
we eat there is music on to fill
the silence as we fill our mouths
with all the food. Some people
go for seconds if they still have
enough room but most of us like
to fill up on more dessert than
dinner.
After We Eat
After we eat we watch the rest
of the football game. Then we
eat dessert. Next we all help to
cleanup. After that we sit and
chat for a while. Then we play
all kinds of games. We usually
split into two teams because
there are so many of us. After
that we put the little ones to bed
and get in our pajamas. We put
a movie on the television and
take a nap. When we get up we
get ready and go black Friday
shopping. That is my favorite
part of the night.
Timing Together
Spending thanksgiving with my
family and friends is so much
fun. I look forward to this day
all year long. Its great to see
everyone and catchup with
whats going on. Although
when my Aunt Susie comes
down for Thanksgiving
everyone always has a better
time. But when that happens
there is usually a food fight. I
think next year we are going to
visit family that lives in New
York for Thanksgiving.
