LET'S READ
One of our method in teaching English is learning by using newspaper.
Using newspaper in class can improve students' vocabularies skill, increase
their knowledge and encourage their positive attitude toward learning.

Newspaper is one of an important authentic sources in learning English

because the students will read and analyze the text contains of the latest
news and knowledge.
We use many exciting newspaper activities and games we got from
NIE Workshop and Jakarta Post . We develop some of the methods by
ourselves and implement them in our classes. In teaching English, we often
use competitions to create different atmosphere in the class. For example in
'Scavenger Hunt' we give the students some words, phrases or topics they
have to find in the newspaper in groups. It forces them to read almost all of
the text in the newspaper. The winner is the fastest group who can find all
the topic given. They do this game excitedly and do not realize that they
have read almost all of the text in the newspaper. In another activities, they
cut pictures from the newspaper and create their own imaginative and funny
articles and also advertisements. It is necessary to teach in class using fun
and interactive ways to increase students' achievement.
