ZONING DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1.

General
A.

Aircraft Zoning Principles

(1) The aircraft is conventionally divided into:
major zones,
sub-zones,
zones.
(2) The zones are sequentially numbered:
(a) on the fuselage from the nose to tail section, up and down from the floor line and aside
from the aircraft symmetry plane,
(b) on the wing from the fuselage to the tip and from the leading edge to the trailing one,
(c) on the horizontal stabilizer from the root part to the tip and from the leading edge to the
trailing one,
(d) on the vertical stabilizer from the leading edge to the trailing one.
(3) The three-digit number identifies the following zones:
(a) the main zones by hundreds from 100 to 800,
(b) the sub-zones by sequential changing the second digit in the main zone number from 1 to 9,
(c) the zones by sequential changing the third digit in the sub-zone number from 1 to 9.
NOTES 1. If it is necessary to identify an area in the zone, the area number includes the
:
zone number and the area sequential number separated by hyphen.
2. The zone limits are defined by frames which numbers are identified in the Zone
boundaries column of the tables 2, 3, 4, 8 and 9.

FUSELAGE STATIONS DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1.

General
The station diagram shows distances from station "0" to fuselage structural components. Station "0" is
located on the fuselage center line at a distance of 1780 mm (5.84 ft) ahead the aircraft nose.
A. Fuselage Stations
The fuselage stations are given for sections. The fuselage is divided into six sections:
Section F1 from the nose to frame 10 plus 180 mm (0.59 ft) in direction of frame 11 (Ref. Fig. 1),
Section F2 from section F1 to frame 24 (Ref. Fig. 2),
Section F3 from section F2 to frame 36 (Ref. Fig. 3),
Section F4 from section F3 to frame 51 plus 150 mm in direction of frame 52 (Ref. Fig. 4),
Section F5 from section F4 to frame 58 (Ref. Fig. 5),
Section F6 from section F5 to the fuselage tail.
The distances between stringers are shown on the fuselage typical section (Ref. Fig. 6).

ACCESS DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1.

General
A.

Access Doors and Panels

The aircraft access doors and panels include:
maintenance access panels,
panels for filling and maintenance of aircraft systems,
manholes,
fillets,
fairings,
removable floor panels,
removable panels of cargo compartments,
removable ceiling panels.

B.

Arrangement of Access Doors and Panels

The subsection is subdivided into subjects in accordance with numbering of AMM sections:
(1) fuselage (Ref. 06-41-53),
(2) nacelles (Ref. 06-41-54),
(3) stabilizers (Ref. 06-41-55),
(4) wings (Ref. 06-41-57).
C. Access Doors and Panels Numbering System
All access doors and panels are numbered to provide quick identification.
Alphanumeric number includes:
three digits, which indicate access door (panel) location zone;
suffix of one or several Latin letters:
(1) the first letter is a symbolic notation of access door (panel) in logical sequence in direction from
fuselage centerline to fuselage tail section or from top down in alphabetical order beginning with letter
"A" within each zone,
(2) the second letter indicates access door (panel) location of aircraft, if required:
T top (top surface),
B bottom (bottom surface),
L left side,
R right side,
Z inboard,
C or D for ceiling panels,
F or G for floor panels,
W or X for side panels.
NOTES 1. Letters "L" and "R" can be absent in the number, if the three-digit number of zone
:
identification is odd or even respectively.
2. Letters "D", "G" and "X" are used only after letters "C", "F", "W" respectively.
(3) Examples of access doors (panels) identification:
413AL left fan cowl door of left engine,
322AT the first upper panel in zone 322 (vertical stabilizer leading edge).

D. General Rules
(1) Entrance doors, service doors, cargo doors, LG doors and pressurized access panels are identified
by zone number only, since each of them is a zone itself.
NOTE: For the list of entrance, service and cargo doors as well as LG doors refer (Ref. 06-20-00).
(2)
(3)
(4)
(5)

Letters "I" and "O" are not used.

Access doors and panels located on the aircraft center line are considered to be on the left side.
Access panels of vertical stabilizer and rudder are numbered from top down.
Similar access panels located on opposite sides of aircraft have one and the same letter identification,
even if zone numbers are different.
(6) If the access panel is located in several zones, the least zone number is used for identification.
(7) If the access panel is located at zone boundary, it is numbered in accordance with zone, from which
the access panel cover starts moving at opening or removal.

FUSELAGE ACCESS DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1.

General
Fuselage access doors and panels provide access to system units during maintenance. Besides, there are
removable panels on the wing-to-fuselage fairing, which are not used during aircraft operation.
Arrangement of the access doors and panels is shown for the fuselage section F1F4 and wing-to-fuselage
fairing.
The access doors and panels located in the fuselage sections F5 and F6 relate to major zone 300 and are
listed in section (Ref. 06-41-55).
