withanonlinequizgaugingthemasteryofeachstudent'sknowledgeonthistopic.

InthiscurrentunitstudentsarelearningaboutthehistoryandthegeographyoftheUnitedStates.Studentshavea
basicunderstandingofwhytheUnitedStatesstartedandwherepeoplefirstimmigratedto.
Inthepreviouslessonsstudentslearnedmorehistorybasedaboutthe13originalcoloniesandhowtheycametobe.
Thefollowinglessonswillgointomoreinformationaboutthestatesspecifically.Afterstudentshaveanunderstandingof
thelocationofeachstate,studentswilllearnthecapitalofeachstateaswellassomeotherfactsaboutthestates
includinghowtheydifferfromeachother.

Studentswillpracticethequizingroupsoftwobothgivinganswersandprovidingeachotherwithhelpwhenneeded.

whentheteachergavedirectionstothewholeclass.Theycanalsousethedirectionsontheboardtoreferenceifasking
theteacheraquestionaboutwhattheyshouldbedoing.

highlightedasthenameofthestateissung.

providethetopthreescorestheygotasapairtocompareamongsttheotherstudentsintheclass.

Closure

Theteachertalksabouttheimportanceofthedifferentstatesandofknowingwhereeachstateislocated.Forafinal
assessmenttheteacherprojectsthequizatthefrontoftheroomcallingonstudentsatrandomtoanswerwhatstateis
currentlybeingshown.

FollowUp

Throughthenextfewlessonsthelocationsofthestateswillbereferencedasstudentsaretaughtandlearnthecapital
ofeachstate.
