Why do you want to participate in IDYF2015?

150-200 words
I am currently an undergraduate student majoring in International Relations Studies, therefore, I
want to learn about my niche by participating in IDYF2015. Participating in IDYF2015 is a good
opportunity for me to develop my social skills, which I see IDYF2015 itself as a place (or event)
that may challenge me to talk and discuss on a particular international issue with other people
from different cultures and countries, and also to be more critical in order to resolve the problems
at hand. I also want to expand my network by meeting new people from different countries who
have similar interests. Thus, as I can summarize, I want to participate in IDYF2015 because I
want to be in part of an organizational process, not to speak of building friendships with new
people from different cultures.
How can you contribute to IDYF2015? 100-150 words
In classes I am studying in, group discussions are analogically similar to breakfast in every
morning, which means group discussions are very important and frequent. This was due to its
helpful purpose in order to analyze a sort of certain issues. Therefore, I have the experiences to
contribute to a group discussion, and which therefore I am also used to analyzing and resolving
the problems. So, in favor of my contribution to IDYF2015, I will share my perspectives on the
main challenges facing the developing countries, particularly challenges occurring in Indonesia
the country where I belong toregarding to the hunger problem all over the world. Moreover,
due to the previous solution of world hunger problem is one-sided aid, I will also share my
perspectives on the resolutions that refer to the "win-win" relationship for both developed
countries and developing countries.
Explain one problem in the field of development you are most concerned in, and why you
are interested in it. 150-250 words
In the field of development, I am concerned in the hunger problem. In general, this problem may
refer to the demand or scarcity of food in a country. Hunger itself started to become a problem
when it is spreading all over a country, and turning the country to be powerless. In a bigger scale,
there is world hungerwhich refers to the same definition aggregated to the world level. Mostly
the causes of this problem are poverty, conflict and war, population growth, and climate change.
I am interested in this problem because hunger has spread all over the world and children are the
most visible victims of hunger, or malnutrition I could say (in a technical term). It is apparently
difficult and quite complicated to resolve, which, of course, it had me thinking on how to
diminish itat least, preventing it from happening. Moreover, for a personal reason, I am
interested in this problem because I am really concerned to solve this problem to help people in
developing countrieswhich still suffering from poverty and hungerto counter poverty and
hunger.
Propose a solution for hunger (you must identify one cause of hunger in your answer) 150250 words
The problem that frequently and mutually caused hunger is poverty. People living in poverty
cannot afford their basic needs, not to mention nutritious food for both themselves and their
families. Poverty has always been a major problem since it is forcing people to stop exerting

their good quality in works, and mostly, to end up relying on other's aid. Since poverty has
caused hunger, the hunger itself has caused people, especially children, in malnourished
condition, which it will give them no future eventually. And again, poverty started to emerge to
the surface. Thus, I can see how both poverty and hunger are mutually linked to each other and
this poverty-hunger problem is cyclical, and needs to be solved both effectively and efficiently.
Actually, to stop hunger effectively is quite difficult, so that I propose 'aid & prevention' as a
solution for hunger. In order to stop the continuous hunger problem, the aid coming from
developed countries is really helpful, and as it is going through, the government of a developing
country that is encountering this problem needs to prevent the cause of hunger itself, poverty. To
prevent poverty, the government should make a coercive and binding birth control program. It is
certainly aimed to reduce the number of population in the country, so that the cyclical povertyhunger problem itself will be reduced. The second prevention that the government needs to do is
having a program that helps poor people to have the opportunity of being employed.
