Operations Geologist I
Location: ALS Oil & Gas Reservoir Labs, Houston TX
Reports to: Supervisor, Whole Core Services
About the Position
As an integral part of the Operations Team, the responsibility of this position will be to prepare and allocate
core samples for data acquisition, as well as calibrate, operate and troubleshoot several key technologies used
in our core analysis workflow. Additionally, the allocation, processing, analysis and reporting of the data will
be equally important.

Specific Responsibilities

Assist in the delivery, receiving, unloading and processing of core samples at the
laboratory;

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day calibration, operation and throughput of

Spectral Gamma Ray Logger;

Helical CT Scanner;
AutoScan Suite;
Hyperspectral Scanner;
Digital Core Photography;

Demonstrate a total understanding of the equipment and the workflow for data collecting, processing,
analyzing and reporting;

Help develop the functionalities of the LIMs system to properly track samples, operational progress and
to display our results in a professional fashion;

Maintain records of all work completed or in process; including clerical duties, creation of shipping
documents/manifests and all associated paperwork;

Perform general lab functions including but not limited to; inventory control, sample prep, cleaning and
staging equipment/samples, general housekeeping, general maintenance and other duties assigned by
manager.

Responsible for working closely with the regional operations and technical support teams regarding all
jobs in the areas of logistics, coordination and execution;

Responsible for documenting test procedures, data, observations and results;

Responsible for ensuring all required paperwork is compiled and prepared for delivery to the client and
managers both efficiently and promptly;

Create manuals and procedures relating to the rock shop tools and laboratory procedures;

Develop SOPs and review current operations to develop a more streamlined process;

Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and
procedures;

May be asked to work in other departments or at the wellsite as required.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for 6 8 hours in a workday;

Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.;

Please note that ALS Oil & Gas operates 24/7 and may require day, afternoon and graveyard shift work
including weekends.

About you
The ideal candidate would have:

Bachelor of Science in Geology or other related field;

Previous experience in the Oil and Gas Industry an asset but not mandatory;

Forklift license and experience operating a forklift an asset (on site certification will be required);

Good technical and analytical documentation skills are considered a critical requirement;

You would also be/have:

Ability to work within a fast-paced, high volume environment;

Demonstrated judgement, creativity, integrity and ability to problem solve;

Good understanding of computer applications such as Excel and Access;

Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal;

Ability to work within a team environment;

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
