6.C. Manage health, safety and welfare within own area of responsibility

Knowledge
I attended a course on identifying health, safety and welfare hazards and learned how to fill in the
Arup risk register.

Experience
I monitored health and safety issues for construction and piling activities, with particular reference
to the proximity of school children, peak traffic/pedestrian movements. I amended existing safety plan to
include newly identified risks.

Ability
On commencement on site it was my responsibility to produce the construction stage Health & Safety
Plan. I wrote a Project Risk Assessment to identify the main hazards associated with the scheme and
assess the risks involved.
