Poverty
When has survival stood on hope alone? The people in Africa have lost more than hope.
Poverty has been taking over the lands for many years. If the issue persists and is not managed,
the Africans will slowly lose hope. In Africa, poverty is an issue because it is killing the people
due to lack of money, making them struggle through their life, and is hurting the economy even
more ; If people dont help them, poverty will become increasingly worse.
The people in poverty can only stand for so long. One difficulty lies in disentangling
povertys roots from its results a chicken and egg conundrum (Griffin 1). Poverty is a struggle
and can only broken down so much because of the restrictions which are present with only a
reasonable amount of time the Africans are facing. If the goal is trying to free people from
poverty it will take a long time and it is not easy as for the helpers have many struggles in the
way and can only do little by little until everyone helped. Then, it will be truly disentangled. As
of 2013, 21.8 million children under 1 year of age worldwide had not received the three
recommended doses of vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (11 Facts). Due to
poverty, the 21.8 million children could not take the proper medication required to stay immune
from most common diseases because they have not had the capability to do so. They could not
afford it which made them vulnerable to serious medical conditions and the people have had no
help fighting such harsh conditions.

The financial aspect is suffering with poverty taking over at every point. The African
Development Bank is a regional multilateral development finance institution whose purpose is to
contribute to the sustainable economic development and social progress of African countries
individually and collectively (Linskey). It matters because the African Development Bank is
working on sustaining economic development and social progress to eliminate poverty without
any repercussions. It has also contributed many helpful acts to the country and they have been
working on saving African countries individually and collectively. Oxfam International
estimates that for every dollar put into improving access to clean drinking water and sanitation, a
developing nation saves up to $3 to $4 (Griffin 27). It offers an acceptable solution to this
situation and it tells us that spending every dollar we get goes to getting better equipment and
drinking water facilities which would astoundingly save up to $4 in the developing nations. If
they spend every dollar they get, it will truly make an abiding difference to the nations that can
only afford so much.
