WHO WE ARE
Dear Sir/Madam,
Black Box Sounds is the largest Development Communications Company in Pakistan. Our
work on social and development issues is extensive, ranging from designing Complete Media
Strategies as per our client's/partner's requirements, to Documentaries, TV and Radio
Dramas, TV and Radio Talk Shows, Event Management and PR and Media.
Over the last 9 years, the company that started as an audio production house now stands tall as
the largest Development Communications Company, because of the hard work, the creativity
and the ideas developed by our team of over 90 people.
Our campaigns and productions are not just aired/executed in Pakistan, but screened globally,
as success statements of our various projects. As you go through our prole, you will come

Our audiovisual recording and post-production and print facilities are the best, and at par with

HD video cameras including 2 Sony HVR-V1, two Sony HVR-Z5 P.

Four Canon Mark-III (DSLR), One Canon Mark-II (DSLR) equipped with 24 professional Canon
and Carl Zeiss lenses for cinematic video productions, 1 Sony FS700-R video camera that can record
up to 900 frames per second, 1 Nikon D7000 with 4 professional Nikon lenses for still photography
and a GoPro Hero 3 + and 4 Black Edition for underwater and aerial videography with various
mounts.

Editing suite includes One Mac Pro 12-core Intel Xeon with 27 LED screen, four iMac Core i7
machines, two iMac Core i5 machines, and a 27 cinema display for DV, DV CAM and HDV editing.

Five Intel i7 Windows machines equipped with the latest Nvidia graphics cards and ve 24 LED
displays for 2-D & 3-D animation and graphics.

In-house studio recording facilities for Talk Shows, current affair programs and training programs for
up to 4-camera productions.

5 complete audio studios of international standards with proper soundproong and acoustics.

Radio Drama series of 26 episodes each produced in 6 languages. Dhamak
addressed the issue of terrorism by bringing into light true stories of bomb
blast victims and their families along with their loved ones that were left
behind.
DRDF - USAID (PSAs)
To attract Articial Insemination Technicians, Women Livestock Extension
Workers and Dairy Farmers, a series of Public Service Announcement
(PSAs) were produced targeting the focused districts of DRDF's project.
AURAT FOUNDATION GEP, USAID (PSAs)
Production of a 5 Public Service Announcements (PSAs) were done each in
Urdu, Pashto, Sindhi, Balochi & Seraiki languages focusing on Women
Empowerment in Pakistan.
ACID SURVIVORS FOUNDATION ASF (MAGAZINE PROGRAMS &
PSAs)
Produced Four 15 minutes radio magazine programs and 5 Public Service
Announcement (PSAs) of 60 seconds, each were produced on the heinous
reality of acid throwing on women in the southern belt of Punjab for Acid
Survivors Foundation and UNDP in Urdu and Seraiki languages.
INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MIGRATION IOM (PSAs)
Produced more than 500 Public Service Announcement (PSAs) in 10 different
languages for ood hit areas regarding distribution of Watan Card and Land
management etc.
INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MIGRATION IOM (PSAs)
Produced Public Service Announcement (PSAs) for ood affectees of KPK,
Sindh & the Punjab sector. These worked as an instant guideline for the ood
affected people to ght the tough times they were in.

SPARC OPTION PROTOCOL (PSAs)


Production of 2 Public Service Announcement (PSAs) on Option Protocol was
done and aired on different FM channels.
SEARCH FOR COMMON GROUND TEAM (RADIO DRAMA SERIAL)
Produced 104 episodes radio drama serial in 5 languages each, using the
genre of edutainment addressing the need for peace building in the society.
FATA CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECT USAID (PSAs)
Produced 10 Public Service Announcements (PSAs) in Pashto. The objective
of these radio spots was to provide information content for behavioral change
and sensitize the people of FATA regarding various spheres of life. Issues
highlighted were health, child labor, women rights, education and human
rights.
SAVE THE CHILDREN - PNEUMONIA CAMPAIGN (PSAs)
Production of 3 Public Service Announcements (PSAs) each in Urdu and
Pashto to raise awareness regarding prevention and treatment of Pneumonia
on World Pneumonia Day.
UNDP FLOOD MITIGATION (PSAs)
Produced Public Service Announcement (PSAs) each in Sindhi, Urdu &
Pushto in ood-affected areas for UNDP (CPRU) Crisis Prevention &
Recovery Unit.
UNDP FLOOD & CYCLONE MITIGATION (PSAs)
Production of behavioral change Public Service Announcement (PSAs) in
Urdu and Balochi language to create awareness among people living on the
coast belts of Pakistan on Flood and Cyclone Mitigation for UNDP Crisis
Prevention Unit.
SAVE THE CHILDREN (UK) - (RADIO REAL LIFE SHORT STORIES)
Awareness raising radio campaign on issues like Beggary, Internal
Trafcking of Children, Corporal Punishment and Juvenile Prisoners using
behavioral change real life stories and Public Service Announcements
(PSAs) to lobby for child protection bill.
INDIVIDUAL LAND & OSI (FREEDOM OF INFORMATION) (TALK

SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD SPARC (PSAs)
Production of 5 Public Service Announcement (PSAs) on Corporal
Punishment in Pashto language.
SAVE THE CHILDREN- EVERY ONE CAMPAIGN
BBS produced multiple PSAs for Save the Children in at least three regional
languages and aired them across various radio stations in Islamabad, KPK,
Baluchistan and Sindh.
USAID- Roshan Pakistan/ Rokhana Pakistan (MAGAZINE SHOWS)
We produced 12 magazine shows that aired on various radio stations across
KP. The theme of these projects was to highlight the development projects
that USAID initiated in KPK and to shed light on the positive impact that their
intervention brought in these regions
SAVE THE CHILDREN, PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS ON
MALARIA
BBS produced and aired multiple PSAs for Save the Children on malaria. The
message delivered via these PSAs focused on precautions, preventions and
remedies for Malaria.

EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE & EDUCATION
BBS produced & aired PSAs for Save the Children on early childhood care and

Production of 5 awareness raising radio commercials for PLAN PAKISTAN to
promote 'Learn without Fear' in Urdu language

39 episodes for awareness raising Radio Magazine Programs of 15-minutes
each were produced for Pakistan Initiative for Mothers and Newborns in
Urdu, Pushto and Sindhi language to enhance positive practices regarding
pregnancy, newborn care and maternal health.

Production of 50 minutes Radio Talk Shows (5 episodes) in Pushto to
highlight development in FATA entitled 'Da Qabayalo Awaz'.

A 13-episode awareness raising series of 5-minutes short radio programs

Race for Survival 2012


Save the Children EVERYONE Campaign
A major global happening, the Race for Survival is held every year where children across the
globe race against hunger. In Pakistan, we organized the race for Save the Children in 2012.
The event was a huge success, and everything, from the designing of merchandise like t-shirts,
caps, badges etc. to actual branding of the venue and extensive media coverage was managed
by Black Box Sounds.

Islamic Relief
ICDI Campaign
Unlocking the Chains of Debt, aimed to catalyse accelerated progress towards reduction in Debt of Pakistan
increasing understanding of the masses on Pakistans foreign and domestic loans. Pakistan, in recent years, has
witnessed mounting levels of both external debt and domestic debt. The campaign focused on:
Public awareness on Debt and IFIs-led economic policies.
Public mobilization on Illegitimate Debt and its cancellation
Knowledge & debate generation on Agreement of Uni/Bilateral debts
Media & CSOs generate a debate with government by orienting them on the issues of illegitimate debts

Islamic Reliefs Integrated Community Development initiative in KP focused on organizing and mobilizing
communities, restoring productive assets, and generating income; improved hygienic conditions by ensuring access
to safe drinking water and disposal of waste water alongside creating economic opportunities through interlinked
strategies.

Save the Children
We organized a seminar and photo exhibition for Save the Children on the occasion
of the launch of the Sate of the Worlds Mothers Report this year. The event received
extensive media coverage, both TV and press, with news reports on all major TV
channels and newspapers.

Launch of SFCGs Campaign


Search for Common Ground
We organized the launch of SFCGs Aman-au-Mina campaign, aiming at promotion
of peace across KP and FATA. With extensive venue branding and media coverage,
the launch was a huge success and celebrated 7 stories of peace promoters who
received awards and recognition.

National Peace Summit


DANIDA and SFCG
We organized a day long summit for DANIDA and SFCG where government
ofcials and other dignitaries deliberated upon the role of the youth and media in
promoting peace across Pakistan. Starting from releasing hundreds of pigeons
in the air and ending on lighting up the evening skies with sky lanterns, the event
was a day of productive panel discussions, motivational speeches and thought
provoking mime and theatre performances.

We organized a day long summit for DANIDA and SFCG where government ofcials and other dignitaries
deliberated upon the role of the youth and media in promoting peace across Pakistan. Starting from

Held in Serena Islamabad on December 9, 2015, the Bachpan Bachao Media Engagement
event was hosted by Oxfam Novib and moderated by Tauseeq Haider. The event was
organized by Black Box Sounds inconsultation with Bachpan Bachao team at Oxfam Novib.
Detailed and in-depthdiscussion on the issue of Early Marriages took place between
renowned media personnel from across Pakistan. Chief Guest Ms. Fouzia Viqar, Chairperson
Punjab Commission on Status of Women displayed great commitment towards thecause and
later media personalities from print, electronic and social mediaspoke in detail about their
views, recommendations and solutions to address the issue.

WORLD BANK
Celebra ng the arrival of World Banks new President in December 2015, we welcomed
him with the true Pakistani spirit; an evening lit up with bright and colourful truck art
pa erns, receiving him with the best in Pakistani art and culture. The evening was a huge
success, with Hadiqa Kyani and her orchestra keeping the guests singing along and
clapping to popular songs and music from the world over.

Corporate Retreat
World Bank
We organized a fun-lled family day for the World Bank, where families of the World Bank
team got together for a day packed with entertainment and activities. As an ice-breaker
we started the day with a team building exercise which included a treasure hunt that
everyone thoroughly enjoyed. This was followed by a stand up comedy act which left the
guests roaring with laughter. We ended the evening with a magic show for the children,
which the adults enjoyed as much. We set up bouncy castle in the lawn for children to play
and had mascots hand out goodie bags as the guests were leaving.

Key Personnel
Tauseeq Haider
Tauseeq Haider has been in the media industry for over 25 years. He is the Manager
Director, Black Box Sounds and has been heading all the media campaigns, grants and
events carried out by Black Box Sounds.
He is an international visiting Lecturer for Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Germany as
well as a facilitator at the International Academy for Leadership (IAF) since 2001.
He is the creative head of several documentaries that have been recognized globally and
multiple platforms like UNGA, N peace awards, Voice of America etc.

Irshad Ali Khan


Irshad Ali Khan, a student of journalism and political science has vast experience in
productions. Having worked with DW Radio in Germany and over 12 years of experience
in media management, Radio and TV broadcast, designing shows and media strategies
for the development sector. Irshad will be looking after the content of the Radio Magazine
Shows.

Fatima Ghani
Fatima Ghani has over 10 years of experience of Event Management, Advertising and
Development Communication. With great management and creative skills, she mobilizes
her teams during mass media campaigns and events and ensures branding and dcor,
and on-ground execution of all sorts of projects. She has represented Black Box Sounds at
different international platforms like International Peace Cnference at UN HO Geneva
and Deutsche Welle global media forum for three years.

Shehryar Niaz Ahmed


Shehryar has over 7 years of experience in designing and implementing audio and video
productions for social development sector in Pakistan as lead communication strategist.
He ovesees operations and proposal writing for various funding organizations and also
has experience in setting up Community Radio Stations across Pakistan.
Shehryar Niaz has been taking care of the media management cell for over 6 years. He
will be responsible for the media buying and placement for the media campaign.

Maria Patel
Worked with some of the known advertising agencies around Pakistan, Maria is a
graduate in English Literature and MS in Media and advertising. She has a knack for
developing communication and advertising strategies for the corporate sector. Some of
the known advertising campaigns come under her name.
Working on diverse developments issues like women empowerment to Health for donors
like World Bank, Save the Children, WHO, IFES, UNDP, Aurat Foundation and so on. Her
work has been recognized nationally as well as internationally. She also represented
Black Box Sounds at Global Media Forum 2015 held by DW in Bon, Germany.

Musharraf Raza
With over 8 years of experience in the creative eld, Musharraf also has extensive
experience as a manager creative in events like Lux Style Awards and events of the
development sector. Musharraf has been developing lyrics for several clients on different
developmental issues like Water and Sanitation, Child Labor and so on. His strengths are
content integration in an entertaining manner and sending the campaign's key messages
through to the audiences in an extremely catchy style.

Faisal Shahzad
Faisal possesses over 7 years of experience and has been working extensively on Media
Campaigns for the development sector. He heads the audio production and has worked
on projects of organizations like Save the children, SFCG, MKR, USAID, UNICEF etc.
Faisal is an asset to Black Box Sounds. He has produced major projects comprising of 104
episodes of radio drama, numerous radio talk shows, Public Service Announcements,
Transmission capsules. He also oversees sound capturing at various events and
conferences.

Muhammad Furqan
Muhammed Furqan is manager productions and heads the video department in Black
Box Sounds. A graduate of National College of Arts, he is an experienced documentary
lmmaker and photographer with various successful projects under his belt. He is well
versed in art of documentary lmmaking and has extensive experience of working all over
Pakistan on a variety of projects.
He has worked with several INGOs, Government departments and Semi Government on
multimedia projects ranging from health to education, CVE to infrastructure
development.
He is also an Alumni of Mosaic International Leadership Programme and is involved in
leadership and mentoring young social activists. He also represented Deutsche Welle
global media forum 2013 and represented Pakistan in the SAARC lm festival 2013.

Irfan Ahmed Ur
Irfan Ahmed Ur is a very popular scriptwriter who has written several drama serials for
Pakistani television. He has written popular dramas such as Bus Chup Raho and Nail
Polish. Irfan mainly writes comic dramas, and has worked with famous stars of the
industry such as Humayun Saeed, Shahood Alvi, Asad Malik, Noman Masood and
Mohib Mirza.
Irfan ventured in to the industry in the late 1990's, and is now one of the most famous
scriptwriters in the industry. He has also received the award for the best writer, and is
currently writing drama serials for GEO TV. He also wrote Parchain, which was a big hit
upon its airing. Irfan mainly writes his dramas for PTV, and mostly all of his dramas have
been aired on national television.

Muneeb Ahsan
Muneeb has been working in the media industry for almost 10 years now. He has directed
numerous project documentaries, songs and real life stories for several INGOs like Save
the Children, OXFAM, UNICEF, US Embassy etc.
