Vellore Campus-

IT University conducts VIT Engineering Entrance

Exam (VITEEE) for granting admissions to various undergraduate engineering programmes.
Admissions to its two campuses, Chennai
and Vellore, will be purely on the basis of the marks
secured in the VITEEE. There are nearly 5,000 B.Tech
seats for which around two lakh candidates register
and appear every year.

According to candidates, who appeared for

VITEEE held in 2015, the questions were of moderate difficulty level with Physics section being
the toughest. Seats were allotted to only those
candidates, who were ranked 99,999 or above.
During Phase 1 of VITEEE Counselling for academic session 2015-2016, Computer Science
and Engineering was the most preferred branch
among students, followed by Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology branches.

VITEEE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Nationality required:
Applicant should be a Resident / Non Resident Indian
National.

Qualifying Examination required:

Candidates appearing for VITEEE should have either
completed or shall be appearing in 2016, in any one
of the following qualifying examinations (for candidates
appearing in VITEEE 2016):
l Final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher
Secondary Examination conducted by the State
Board, Central Board of Secondary Education
(CBSE, New Delhi), The Council for Indian School
Certificate Examination (ISCE, New Delhi)
l Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination
conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
l High
School Certificate Examination of the
Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate
Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office,
Geneva
l General Certificate Education (GCE) examination
(London / Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A)
level

in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be 50% for

the following categories:
l Candidates belonging to SC/ST
l Candidates hailing from North Eastern states of
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya,
Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
New: NIOS candidates are eligible to appear for the
VITEEE.

Age required (for VITEEE 2016):

Note: Students, who have studied in regular, full time
and formal education alone, are eligible to apply.

Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after July

1, 1994 are eligible to apply for VITEEE 2016. The
date of birth as recorded in the High School / SSC / X
Certificate will be considered.

Academic Qualification required:

Candidates appearing for the VITEEE should have
secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry,
Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/
Intermediate).

Candidates, who have studied Physics, Chemistry

and Mathematics, are eligible for these 15 B.Tech.

VITEEE APPLICATION FORM

pplication Form of VITEEE is available from first

week of December onwards by VIT University.
The last date for receipt of online application
form is in third week of March. Students can
avail the Application Form of VITEEE in offline as well
as online mode. The availability of NRI direct admission and foreign admission online application forms of
VITEEE is in last week of October.

Candidates can apply online through the following
modes(i) Net banking /Credit card/Debit card
(ii) DD mode

The online applicants applying through DD mode

should send the hardcopy of VITEEE application
form to the University addressed to- Director- UG
Admissions, VIT University, Vellore-632014
Candidates applying online shall keep themselves
ready with softcopy (scanned copy) of recently
taken passport size colour photograph with 50kb 100kb (Dimensions - 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) / Softcopy
(scanned copy) of signature with 20kb - 50kb
(Dimensions - 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm) in JPG / JPEG
format.

l Candidates can obtain the application form in
person from(i) VIT University, Vellore Campus
(ii) VIT University, Chennai Campus
(iii) Anna Nagar Office, New No. 6, (Old No. W-73),
Second Street (Opposite Towers Club), Anna Nagar,
Chennai 600 040 , by handing over a Demand Draft
drawn in favour of VIT University, payable at Vellore.
l Candidates are required to send request for the
application form and indicate their complete postal
address. On receipt of DD, the application form
of VITEEE with the enclosures will be sent by
post. Candidate should write his/her name, mobile
number and address on the reverse of DD.

Things to remember while filling

Application Form (offline):

VITEEE Application Form should be filled by the

candidates in their own handwriting.
l The application form will be machine-processed.
First, candidates need to write in capital letters
the required information or enter the relevant code
with a black ball-point pen in the boxes. They are
required to shade the corresponding alphabet/
numeral circle using HB pencil only.
l If a candidate wishes to change a marking, then
he/she needs to erase the shaded spot completely
and then shade the appropriate alphabet / numeral.
l Candidates shall note down the ten digit application
number of VITEEE for future reference.

Once the application is received at VIT University, a

message will be sent through SMS to the candidates
stating that their application has been received. The
candidates may also track the status of their application by typing their VITEEE Application number.

All the correspondence of VIT University including

be through email only. Therefore, candidates must
have valid email id and mobile number for contact.

All questions in VITEEE will be of objective type.

Questions from following four subjects will be

There will be no negative marking for wrong
answers in VITEEE.

Things to know about VITEEE

Computer Based Test (CBT):
l

The selection of pattern (Physics/ Chemistry / Mathematics or Biology) has to be decided at the time of
slot booking.
l All questions will be of Multiple Choice Question
(MCQ) type. Only one of the four responses is the
correct answer. Candidate needs to choose that
answer.
l The entrance exam will be of two and half hours.

Candidates will be sitting in front of the computer

and the questions will be presented on the monitor.
They shall submit their answers through the use of
mouse.
The computer will be connected to the server,
which will deliver encrypted test in real time through
a secure and reliable connection.
Candidates will be able to navigate freely through
the questions back and forth in VITEEE.

VITEEE Marking Scheme:

l

Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics part will have

40 questions. English part will carry 5 questions.
Each question carries one mark. So, there will be
total 125 questions and the exam will be of 125

VITEEE ADMIT CARD

ITEEE is available for download in the month

of March. The e-Admit Card of VITEEE is
auto-generated for only those candidates,
who book a slot using the Online Test Booking
System (OTBS) before the last date. Admit card will
not be processed if the submitted application form is
incomplete. Discrepancies, if any, must be brought to
the notice of VIT University immediately. Candidates
will not be permitted to appear for the test without valid
hall ticket. Check details about the admit card belowl Candidate should provide the application form
number and Online Test Booking password to
download the e- Admit card for appearing in
VITEEE.
l VITEEE e-Admit Card will indicate admit card
number, photograph of student, address of test
center, test date and time selected by the candidate.
l The copy of e-Admit Card will also be emailed to
the candidate.
l Candidates must provide valid email ID in VITEEE
Application Form. The Admit card will not be
dispatched to candidates via post or fax.
l Applicants should take a print out of hall ticket using
print option on A4 size paper only. They shall make
sure that all information on the admit card including
photograph is clearly visible on the printout.
l Candidates must not mutilate the e-Admit Card or
change any entry made therein after it has been
authenticated and received by them.
VITEEE Admit Card is an important document and it must be preserved and produced at the time of counselling / admission.

VITEEE COUNSELLING

ITEEE Counselling for admissions to campuses of VIT University is held in second and
third week of May. Candidates are short-listed
based on their VITEEE marks and are called
for the counselling. Biometric authentication is carried
out for the shortlisted candidates during counselling
and joining. Common selection and admission procedure is followed through single window counselling
at Vellore and Chennai campus for all the B.Tech programmes offered in both the campuses of VIT University. Candidates, who are shortlisted for counselling,
should attend the same in person either in Vellore or
Chennai campus.

number of seats allocated for each branch at the
time of counselling and number of seats available are displayed at the counselling centre
