Job Description:
A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is a person who uses ultrasound machines to view and
interpret images with sound waves for the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions

Roles and Responsibilities:


To perform accurate ultrasound tests of a particular area of the body, based on a
physician's order. Diagnostic Ultrasound sonographer mostly uses sound waves machine to
show images inside of the body.

Essential skills needed for career:


The importance Skills of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer are the following: speaking, active
listening, monitoring, time management, judgment and decision making, and active listening.

High School:

Requirements needed in high school to become Diagnostic Medical

Sonographer are the following subjects: chemistry, biology, computer class, algebra,
basic physics, and anatomy.

College/University: South College, Tennessee college of Applied Technology,


Fountainhead College of Technology, and Roane State Community College. All of the
colleges are located in Tennessee.

Graduate/Medical School if required: The students grades must be As to Cs, below C


will not have credit for the class. The GPA to start schooling needs to be 2.0.

Residency if required:

Residency is not required

Licensure and credentialing requirement:

RDMS needed (registered diagnostic medical sonographer)

SPI needed ( Sonography principles and instrumentation examination)

Roles & responsibilities:

Isolating, identifying and measuring toxic substances or radiation and any harmful effect
they have on humans, animals, plants or ecosystems
perform scientific experiments to evaluate the short and long-term effects of toxic
materials or radiation

Essential Skills:
Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems
Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or
performance.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in biology, toxicology, biochemistry or a related field.
Masters degree in toxicology
Doctoral program in pharmacology and toxicology.

Licensure & Credentialing Requirements:


In most cases, a license is not required.
A board certification through the Forensic Toxicologist Certification Board can increase
