Demonstrate an understanding of addition and subtraction of numbers with


answers to 1000 (limited to 1-, 2- and 3-digit numerals), concretely, pictorially
and symbolically, by:
1. Using personal strategies for adding and subtracting with and without
the support of manipulatives.

Procedure
Introduction 1
(10-20 min.)

Assessment Methods
-Based on the exit slips from the previous class, I
will decide how much review the class will need on
the stacking strategy.
- Will review the two questions from the exit slips,
and if there was any common problems with how
the students answer them I will explain the mistakes
made.

Formative:

-Will hand out pink worksheets to all the students,
one which will have two digit addition spaces, and
the other with three.

the students to write in write in their own addition

the students to try to fill up the two digit sheet
before moving onto the three digit sheet.

Centers: 15 minute rotations at each.

ones, tens, and hundreds units

Will review one question on a whiteboard


quickly, after which the students will get
started on their pink sheets. I will assist
students with these sheets.

- Work on addition facts.

4. Desk Work:
- Continue to work on the pink sheets, or
work on pink or blue notebooks.

Closure
(10 min.)

Formative:

Collect student workbooks, pink sheets


Put away whiteboards, dice, markers,
cards, etc. and sit at your table quietly
