WELCOME TO MERVEILLE

Merveille is a place to wander your unconsciousness like a

dream space what inhabits it has meaning to you from your
past and present, Merveille gives you the chance to look at
everything and anything as if it was your first time seeing it, no
two minds wander the same Merveille.

JOSEPH CORNELL

Joseph Cornell is a surrealist sculptor best

known for his Shadow Boxes collecting
antique/victorian objects, pictures, paintings
and newspapers to collage into boxes.

He talks about his shadow boxes being a

poetic theatre that displays elements of a
childhood pastime and he wants this
particular beauty to be explored in his
artwork and to feel joy from it.

His work indulges in the white magic side to

surrealism which is reflected in the
dreamlike/nostalgic feel throughout his work.

Research/Influence map for architecting reference/ideas

Thinking about making a dream city I watched Inception (a film

that features what it means to architect a dream world) and
looked at their concept art for low angle shots.

Childhood pastime

about the transformation from
childhood to adulthood. You are in
the city park in Merveille - parks
are a very common place for
children to go.

Everything here is big as everything

would from a childs perspective.
The further into Merveille you go
the more into your adulthood you
go, this is reflected in sophisticated
objects e.g. chess pieces.
