For now, AAFC would also like to remove this from consideration while we take a look at those particular concerns in greater detail such that all can be prepared and understand the true impacts from a science and research perspective. | will confirm the results of this further analysis in the next week or 2. In the meantime, here is some information on the approx. 25 acre parcel (the former sir john carling building site) per the attached map, in black circle cel as id ithin © The deconstruction of the SJCB Annex and main tower was completed in 2014 by PSPC. The site subgrade foundation cavity was backfilled with pulverized cement from the tower and annex buildings and following that there was a detection of phenol slurry identified in the ground water drainage system exiting from the site area. Itis believed that the phenol is present due to the explosive materials utilized in the implosion process of the building deconstruction although that is stil being verified. Environment Canada issued a compliance directive to PSPC in the spring of 2016 to develop and implement a remediation plan to address this situation and control the outtall of this contaminate to adjacent areas through underground water discharge piping. PSPC has since taken measures to contain this residual substance to the site area of the former SJCB. PSPC installed monitoring wells around the area and continues to monitor ground water levels and their content. The remaining West Annex building is being monitored as well for ground water flooding within the basement area and is being pumped out as required until a permanent remediation plan is developed by PSPC. There still remains the possibility that the backfill material utilized to fill in the cavity left after the SJCB tower deconstruction will need to be excavated and the site re- backfilled with clean material by PSPC. In the interim, the former SJCB foot print remains as an underground holding area for this contaminant. PSPC is responsible for associated remediation and I encourage you to contact the following person if details are required. * CONTACT AT PSPC WRT ON-GOING WORK ATTHIS LOCATION: Judie Smith-Dakin Directeur de comptes-clients | Account Executive Consultations des clients et solutions immobiligres | Client Consultancy and Real Property Solutions Services publics et Approvisionnment Canada | Public Services and Procurement Canada 60, rue Queen, 14ieme étage | 60 Queen Street, 14th Floor Ottawa, ON KIA OSS
