Q 1.
Identify what James Staker might have done differently to get Bonnie to offer suggestions on
ways to improve the stores efficiency?
Answer 1.
I believe James Staker could have sent her an email to ensure that what he was asking was
something she could have done at a certain time and get her commitment on it. Or just say we
need to talk later, about the store efficiency. I will email or call you.

Q 2.
Was it appropriate for Staker to give Bonnie a directive in a social, off-the-job setting? Why or
why not?
Answer 2
I do not agree with Staker giving Bonnie a directive in a social, or off-the -job setting.
I think that was not the place and time for this conversation. Enjoy the picnic and talk about it
later. Respect the time off.

Q 3.
What might you have done differently at the picnic as you listened to your boss's comments?
Answer 3.
Listen and then say may we have this conversation somewhere else if it is necessarily. So, we
can clear up any concern that he may have.

Q 4.

After reviewing the chapter and you make the call, if you were James Staker what would you
have done differently to get Bonnie on board, that is, help her to be the best employee possible?
Answer 4.

First, set up a meeting with her to see where she stands on certain issues. Empower her with the
tools she will need to be the best she can be, training if need be, coaching if need be and what do
she need to be the very best she can be right now to day
Q 5.
What should Bonnie do now?
Answer 5.
Block out some time and get the report done .
