STUD DOG OWNERS CODE OF ETHICS

As a stud dog owner I agree to the following:
1. I will NOT breed any male owned by me without the actual registration paperwork in my name and in my possession.
2. I will keep accurate records of all breedings and pedigrees.
3. As a responsible stud dog owner, I understand that should I refuse a breeding, I will fully explain my reasons to the owner of the bitch. I have an
obligation to refuse the breeding if, in my opinion, it is not in the best interest of the breed.
4. I will offer my stud dogs services to bitches that I believe to be temperamentally and structurally sound, and not affected with any serious disease
or known serious inheritable defect/disability. They shall be in good physical condition and be at least one (1) year of age and not over twelve (12 )
years of age.
5. If my [ AKC registered ] stud dog is used to produce seven or more litters in a lifetime or produces more than three litters in a calendar year it will
be AKC DNA Certified.
6. I will use my stud dog only after he reaches the age of twelve (12) months and has cleared/passed a minimum of two ( 2 ) health screenings,
performed and recorded by a third party reliable, verifiable and reputable source.
7. I will personally supervise every breeding and use only the stud dog selected by the bitch owner. No substitution of stud dogs will take place
unless agreed to by the owner of the bitch.
8. I will insist that all details concerning the mating be agreed upon before the mating takes place and recognize that all such details are best written
down in a signed contract for the protection of both parties.
9. I will sign the litter registration form when it is presented to me by the bitch owner but only after the litter is on the ground. If the litter registration
is done online I will fulfill all requirements to register the litter once the litter is on the ground. I will act promptly and in a timely manner concerning
all my obligations on registration matters.
10. If I am asked, I will do my best to assist the owner of the bitch in placing puppies resulting from a mating with my dog.
11. I will not falsify pedigrees, medical clearances or breeding information. I will be honest in any and all advertising that I place for the promotion
of my stud dog, my breeding program or my kennel.
12. I agree that all contracts or agreements between breeders and owners regarding stud services, guarantees regarding live litters, fees or other
services should be put in writing for the protection of all involved parties.
13. I agree to follow recommendations set forth by my breeds parent club such as microchip, DNA and health testing for my stud dog.
14. My stud dog will be free of known hereditary, incapacitating faults, and should be a good specimen of the breed according to the breed standard.
He shall also possess proper disposition according to the breed standard. In addition, my stud dog must have two normally descended testicles. My
stud dog will be in good health, free from communicable diseases.
15. As a stud dog owner, when approached, I agree to discuss the merits and disadvantages of the proposed breeding with candor and full disclosure.
16. As a responsible breeder, I will refrain from using a stud dog that, although free from serious or disqualifying defects, consistently produces
afflicted puppies once it becomes apparent that the problem exists.
17. I agree to provide appropriate care, diet, and exercise to the bitch during her time with me for the duration of the performance and completion of
the stud dog services.
18. To the extent that my abilities allow, I will honor all written contracts and/or guarantees concerning my stud dog. I understand that failure to do
so risk expulsion from STUDDOGFINDER.CO
19. I will not engage in cross-breeding. I will, to the best of my ability, breed for the purpose of improving the quality and health of the breed.
