Introduction
Ninety percent of the worlds population
have some extent of ocular astigmatism,
and up to 20% have astigmatism of Z1.5
diopters (D).1,2
Several techniques have been developed to
surgically correct astigmatic errors, including
transverse or arcuate incisions (simple,
combined, or in conjunction with radial
incisions). Excimer laser corneal refractive
surgery is safe and efficient for correcting
astigmatism in adults.36 However, LASIK
might be less effective for correcting
