Implementing Rules and Regulation

CHESS
1. The participants must be bona fide students of Batangas State University currently enrolled in the BS
Accountancy or BS Accounting Management Program.
2. The participants must be duly registered members of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants or
Young Accounting Managers Society.
3. Each team have 2 participants, one male and one female, to compete against other teams, Failure for
a team to have an entry for this category will be subject to a 20 point-deduction in the overall score of
the team for the Accountancy Day.
4. University Chess Varsities are prohibited from joining the said category. They will be assigned as
arbiters of each team to recognize their skills and expertise in the game.
5. There will be two divisions in the category; Chess Male Division and Chess Female Division. Each
division will be divided into two groups who will compete against each other. Winners of each group per
division will then compete against each other for the title of Champion. Teams are as follows:

6. The Laws of Chess set by the FIDE shall govern the game. Softcopy of the Laws of Chess shall be given
to the participants before the event day. Additional rules shall be sent together with the FIDE Laws.
Participants may request the file at an earlier date.
7. The following are the additional rules to govern the game:
The objective of the game is to place the opponents king underattack in such a way
that the opponent has no legal move. The one who achieved the goal is said to have
checkmated his opponent and considered as the winner of the game.
If the position is such that neither player can possibly checkmate the other, the game is
considered as a draw.
When the player touches one or more of his pieces, he must move the first piece touched
which can be moved. On the other hand, if it is one or more of his opponent's pieces, he
must captured the first piece touched which can be captured. However, if the first
touched is unclear whether it is his or opponent's piece, his own piece shall be considered
as his first touch.
If the player touches his king and rook, he must castle it if it is legal to do so. If it is
illegal, he must make a legal move with his king. If there is no legal move for king, the
player is free to make other legal move.
When the player promotes his pawn, the choice of the piece is finalized when the chosen
piece touches the square of promotion.
A player may forfeits his right to a claim against his opponent's violation once he
deliberately touches a piece.
If during the game it is found that the initial position of pieces is incorrect, the game
shall be cancelled and new game is played.

If during a game it is found that an illegal move, including failing to meet the
requirements of the promotion of a pawn or capturing the opponents king, has been
completed, the position immediately before the irregularity shall be reinstated. However,
if the position immediately before the irregularity cannot be determined the game shall
continue from the last identifiable position prior to the irregularity.
The game is drawn when a position is reached from which a checkmate cannot occur by
any possible series of legal moves. This immediately ends the game, provided that the
move producing this position was legal.

8. Each division shall be the best of three games. Each division shall be played according to the following

Decision as to who plays white and who plays black on the first game shall be decided by a method
recommended by the Arbiters. Colors will change for the 2nd game and, if ever, for the 3rd game.
Arbiters will supervise each team. The decision of the arbiters is final and irrevocable.
10. If the participant is not present in the venue for 15 minutes once the arbiters call for the start of the
game, he shall automatically be considered in default and shall automatically make his opponent the
winner of their game.
11. The participants agree that by joining the contest, they submit themselves to the decision of the judges
and the organizers of the event.
12. Winners shall be the Champion, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up. They will receive Certificates of
Recognition , medals and will earn corresponding points for their respective teams.

DAMA (CHECKERS)

1. The participants must be bona fide students of Batangas State University currently enrolled in the BS
Accountancy or BS Accounting Management Program.
2. The participants must be duly registered members of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants or
Young Accounting Managers Society.
3. Each team have 2 participants, one male and one female, to compete against other teams, Failure for
a team to have an entry for this category will be subject to a 20 point-deduction in the overall score of
the team for the Accountancy Day.
4. There will be two divisions in the category; Dama Male Division and Dama Female Division. Each
division will be divided into two groups who will compete against each other. Winners of each group per
division will then compete against each other for the title of Champion. Teams are as follows:

5. The Laws of Checkers, revised for Filipino Dama, set by the International Checkers Association shall
govern the game. Softcopy of the laws shall be given to the participants before the event day.
Participants may request the file at an earlier date.
6. Additional rules are to be observed. They are as follows:

The objective of the game is to capture all the opponent's pieces. The one who achieved the goal is
considered as the winner of the game.
If the position is such that neither player can move their pieces, the game is considered as draw.
When the player can capture the opponent's pieces, he is obliged to do so.
When the player touches one of his pieces, he must move the first piece touched which can be moved. On
the other hand, if it is one or more of his opponent's pieces, he must captured the first piece touched with
all the possible pieces which can be captured.
A player may forfeits his right to a claim against his opponent's violation once he deliberately touches a
piece.
If during a game it is found that an irregularity has been completed, the position immediately before the
irregularity shall be reinstated. However, if the position immediately before the irregularity cannot be
determined the game shall continue from the last identifiable position prior to the irregularity.

GAMES OF THE GENERAL

will be divided into two groups who will compete against each other. Winners of each group per division

5. The Laws of Games of the General shall govern the game. They are as follows:
The objective of the game is to eliminate or capture the flag of the opponent. You may also win
by successfully maneuvering your own flagg to the opposite end of the board.
The players set of pieces or soldiers with the corresponding ranks and functions consists of the
following 21 pieces:

A player is allowed to move only one piece at a time.


A move consists of pushing a piece to an adjacent square, either forward, backward or sideward.
A diagonal move or a move of more than one square is illegal.
As the game progresses, challenges are made resulting in the elimination of soldiers. A
challenge is made when a soldier moves into the same square occupied by an opposing soldier.
When a challenge is made the following rules of elimination apply:

i. A higher ranked soldier eliminates from the board a lower ranked soldier
ii. If both soldiers are of equal, both are eliminated.
iii. A spy eliminates any officer starting with the rank of 5-star General down to the
Sergeant.
iv. The Flag can be eliminated or captured by any piece including the opponents Flag
v. Only a Private can elimionate the Spy.
vi. The Flag that moves into the same square occupied by the other Flag wins the game.
For maximum interest and suspense, a neutral party (arbiter) is present to preside over a
challenge for both players. As arbiter, he is not allowed to reveal to either player the ranks of any
piece whether engaged in challenges or not. In case of a challenge, the arbiter quietly removes
the outranked piece and gives it back to the player who has lost it. Care must be made that the
eliinated piece is not shown to the opponent. (Note: Official tournament games are conducted
with an arbiter.)
The game ends when the Flag is eliminated or captured, when the Flag reaches the opposite end
of the board, when a player resigns, when both players agree on a drawn position.
A Flag reaching the opposite end of the board may still be eliminated by an opposing piece
occupying a square adjacent to the one reached by the Flag. In order to win, the Flag should at
least be two square or two ahead of any opposing piece.

WORD FACTORY (BOGGLE)
1. The participants must be bona fide students of Batangas State University currently enrolled in the BS
Accountancy or BS Accounting Management Program.

2. The participants must be duly registered members of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants or
Young Accounting Managers Society.
3. Each team have 2 participants, one male and one female, to compete against other teams, Failure for
a team to have an entry for this category will be subject to a 20 point-deduction in the overall score of
the team for the Accountancy Day.
4. The rules are as follows:
The game components are six-sided cubes with a letter on each side, a game board and a
shaker.
The objective of the game is to look for words formed when the letter cubes are settle
after being shaked by the facilitator. The timer will start once the letters have settled and
the players are given time to write down the words they found on a sheet of paper
provided by the facilitator.
Words can be made in any direction up, down, left, right and diagonal, provided they
are in close proximity with each other. Players cannot use the same letter more thance
once in a word. Only words that are included in the English Dictionary are considered for
scoring. Names, places and abbreviations are not allowed.
Players are only given three minutes to search for words. Words written down after the
timer runs out are void.
The facilitator shall calculate the points. The pointing system is as follows:
o Three-letter word 1 point
o Four-letter word 2 points
o Five to seven-letter word 3 points
o Eight or more-letter word 6 points
Only the facilitator can use the shaker to mix the letter cubes. When the cubes have
settled in the letter tray and the facilitator deems that there are no words that can be
formed, he may repeat shaking the shaker. The facilitator will also be the timekeeper and
scorer.
There will be two rounds of three minutes each game. Points from each round shall be
totaled to arrive at the final score. The player with the highest score shall advance to the
next format of the game.

5. Decision as to who plays first shall be decided by a toss-coin. Facilitators will supervise each team. The
decision of the facilitators is final and irrevocable.
6. Materials shall be provided by the organizers.
7. If the participant is not present in the venue for 15 minutes once the facilitators call for the start of the
game, he shall automatically be considered in default and shall automatically make his opponent the
winner of their game.
8. The participants agree that by joining the contest, they submit themselves to the decision of the arbiters
