Objective:
The present continuous repetition, additional practice, listening and reading practice,
vocabulary repetition and new words introduction
Activity 1 Homework check
SB, pg. 15 after finishing the homework check do the exercise How about you? on the same page
AB, pp. 13, 14
The memorization of the present continuous tense by heart
Activity 2 What am I doing?, Im eating. etc.

Run the present continuous questions with what through all the persons.
Run the present continuous with the verb to eat through all the persons.
If the homework check has showed it necessary to do this as the Ss couldnt remember the present continuous tense by
heart very well.

Pre-listening: Under each number there are two pictures and Ss need to check the one they hear the description of.

Pre-listening: T explains to Ss that they will hear the questions to which just one sentence under each number is the
answer. They have to circle that sentence. Ss pre-read the possible answers.

Pre-reading: Introducing new vocabulary

While-reading: Ss read the 1st story silently and underline all the present continuous tenses they can find. T emphasizes
that the present continuous tense consists of two parts in each sentence: the present simple tense of the verb to be + -ing
form of the main verb. Therefore, in each sentence with the present continuous two words need to be underlined.
Post-reading: T asks them if there are any questions and is the vocabulary clear. They check if the tenses found are correct.
Comprehension questions: T asks and the Ss the following questions and they answer:
1. Wheres the Jones family today?
2. Whats Mr. Jones doing?
3. Whats Mrs. Jones doing?
4. What are Sally and Patty Jones doing?
5. Whats Tommy Jones doing?
Story 2: At home in the yard, SB, pg. 22
Pre-reading: Introducing new vocabulary

Vocabulary on pp. 10, 14 and 17/18/19. Ss look at it carefully and then close their books and write as much words in their
notebooks as they can.

A S pantomimes an everyday activity for the class and asks other Ss: What am I doing? They have to answer: You
are _____________.
Doing activity 11 with words on pg. 17 is a good introduction to this game.
Activity 13 Homework assignment
SB, pg. 23 (In your own words: at the beach), pg. 24 (Journal: What are you and your friends doing now) Ss have to
write two short essays.

Teachers note to herself: Look at the expansion activities on pp. 48 50 (enter into pdf file: 62) and pp. 54 56, I think
