Economically, African Americans did not have a good set up.
They had migrated to other
towns and up north to cities in hope to get in on the growing industry business. When they arrived they found that discrimination was there as well. Labor Unions were not particularly fond of African Americans and hired them last. They were also usually first to be fired as well. Socially, African Americans kept reaching for equality but were shut down over and over again. All things were segregated and unfair, so they eventually took it to the supreme court in Plessy v. Ferguson. They deemed it constitutional as long as the segregated things were equal, but that never truly happened. Politically, African Americans had to go through so much to exercise their rights as US citizens. Things like the Jim Crow laws and literacy tests were often put in place to keep African Americans from voting, these test were often unfair and far to difficult. There was also never an answer key, but the test administrator deemed if the answers were correct or not.
