provide you with cut up dialogue strips. Work alone or with
a partner to put the dialogue in the right order.

6. Dialogue Practice
Practice the dialogue with your partner a few times. Take turns being each
character. Then try having the conversation without looking at the sheet.
Jon: Why are you so upset, Amy?
Amy: Dont you know?
Jon: Well I cant read your mind.
Amy: It was our one year anniversary yesterday!
Jon: Oh my god. I completely forgot. Im so sorry, Amy.
Amy: What can sorry do?
Jon: I dont have a memory like an elephant.
Amy: I just cant believe you forgot.
Jon: I know. I feel awful. Lets go out tonight instead.
Amy: You cant just sweep things under the carpet.
Jon: I know its a quick fix. Ill do more to make it up to you.
Amy: Like what?
Jon: You mean the world to me, Amy. Ill plan another night out. A really special
night.
Amy: Wellwhat do you have in mind?
Jon: I dont know. Lets start with dinner at Robertos?
Amy: Where we had our first date?
Jon: Yes. It was a special night.
Amy: Okay. You have a deal. But youre not off the hook yet!

In Task 2, your students are required to put the dialogue in the correct order. Its more fun for students to put the dialogue in
order by physically rearranging dialogue strips. Below are two shuffled copies of the dialogue. Give each student or pair a
shuffled dialogue. Have them cut each into strips and rearrange them until they have put them in the correct order.
Note: Two copies of the dialogue are provided to minimize photocopying and paper usage.
