Occur every : four years


Purpose : Multi sport event for nations on the Asian continent
First event : 1951 Asian Games in New Delhi, India
Last event : 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea
The Games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation (AGF) from the first
Games in New Delhi, India, until the 1978 Games.
Since the 1982 Games they have been organized by the Olympic Council of
Asia (OCA), after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation.
Nine nations have hosted the Asian Games.
Forty-six nations have participated in the Games, including Israel, which was
excluded from the Games after their last participation in 1974. Rest 45 members
affiliated to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) are eligible to take part in the
Games.
The last Games was held in Incheon, South Korea from 19 September to 4 October
2014.
Only seven countries, namely India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka,
Singapore and Thailand have competed in all editions of the games.
Forty-four sports were presented in Asian Games history, including 2014
Games in Incheon.

India completed its engagements at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon on Friday
with a double gold in Kabaddi, where both the men and women teams overcame
Iran to clinch gold.
India ended the Games with a total of 57 medals, including 11 gold, 9 silver and 37
bronze, which is 8 less than the 65 medals (14 gold, 17 silver and 34 bronze) India
won at the Guangzhou Games four years ago.
Athletics and shooting bagged the most number of medals at Incheon, 13 and 9
respectively.
