MACEIO PORT
1.1) Port
The port of Maceio, Capital of the state of Alagoas, is located on the coast and protected by a breakwater
03 (three) kilometers long.

Brazilian charts: 901 DHN
Foreign charts: HD (UK) 3978 and USNOO - 24221
1.3) Local time - Mean temperatures
Local time: GMT minus 3 (three) hours.
Mean local temperatures: from 24C to 32C.
1.4) Approach channel - Maneuvering basin - Berths
There is no approach channel. The approach however, must be made with caution with particular
reference to the shoals which exist to the North-East of the Peixe-Pau buoy.
1.5) Maneuvering basin & Berths
The maneuvering basin is 360m wide and runs the full length of the docks. It is strictly prohibited to anchor
in any part of this area, except when holding special permit issued by the captain of the port.
1.6) Restrictions
Maximum LOA: 220m for cargo vessels and 300m for cruise vessels
Maximum draft: 10.50m
Access Channel: 11m
Density of Sea Water: 1015 to 1029mp.
** Sailing draft is 10.50 mts on the high tide and 9.50 mts at any time, no air draft limitation.
*** Port of Maceio is considered as safe port.
Steel mooring lines are not allowed unless master signs a Statement of Responsibility
1.7) Height of the dock surface from water level
At low tide: approximately 2 meters average
At high tide: approximately 1.50 meters average
1.8) Loading Rate
About 1,500 MT day for bagged sugar, 2,000 mts for fertilizer and 4/5,000 mts for pet coke, clinker and
grain.
1.9) Loading Equipment
Usually ships cranes are used for clinker, pet coke and bagged sugar. There are 03 (three) shore cranes
available of 6 mts each with grabs. These are used for grain discharge or bagged sugar when needed.

2.1) Pilotage
4 pilots available
Request 2 hours in advance
with complete flight timetable, from departure airport to arrival at Maceio airport. Crewmember must have
valid Vaccination Certificate of yellow fever.
2.8) ISPS Code
Owners/Vessel requested to send, by fax, as urgent as possible, maximum 3 (three) days before vessels
arrival, the ship's security certificate (ISSC) or the Interim one. If vessel does not have this document on
board, please let us know immediately. Port of Maceio is compliant and at Level 1 , attached please find
copy declaration of compliance.
2.9) Forms
Hereunder forms that should be filled in and duly sent to us, at least 03 (three) days prior to vessel arrival.
If you/vessel do not have mentioned forms, please tell us as soon as possible.
