The port of Maceio, Capital of the state of Alagoas, is located on the coast and protected by a breakwater
03 (three) kilometers long.

There is no approach channel. The approach however, must be made with caution with particular
reference to the shoals which exist to the North-East of the Peixe-Pau buoy.
1.5) Maneuvering basin & Berths
The maneuvering basin is 360m wide and runs the full length of the docks. It is strictly prohibited to anchor
in any part of this area, except when holding special permit issued by the captain of the port.
1.6) Restrictions
Maximum LOA: 220m for cargo vessels and 300m for cruise vessels
Maximum draft: 10.50m
Access Channel: 11m
Density of Sea Water: 1015 to 1029mp.
** Sailing draft is 10.50 mts on the high tide and 9.50 mts at any time, no air draft limitation.
*** Port of Maceio is considered as safe port.
Steel mooring lines are not allowed unless master signs a Statement of Responsibility
1.7) Height of the dock surface from water level
At low tide: approximately 2 meters average
At high tide: approximately 1.50 meters average
1.8) Loading Rate
About 1,500 MT day for bagged sugar, 2,000 mts for fertilizer and 4/5,000 mts for pet coke, clinker and
grain.
1.9) Loading Equipment
Usually ships cranes are used for clinker, pet coke and bagged sugar. There are 03 (three) shore cranes
available of 6 mts each with grabs. These are used for grain discharge or bagged sugar when needed.

2.5) Port facilities
2.5.2) Fresh Water - Available by truck at cost of US$ 13,00 per ton.
2.5.3) Airport - National: Zumbi dos Palmares Airport 30 Km from the Port
- International: So Paulo Airport.
2.5.4) Bunkers - No bunkers are available at Maceio.
2.6) Spare Parts
Spare parts must be sent directly to Airport Zumbi dos Palmares, Maceio, Alagoas, Brazil, in the name of
vessel and c/o: as per ISS instructions
If the spares are too heavy for direct shipment to Maceio, send them via Recife, you can use TAP Airlines.
In no case do we recommend that you use DHL to ship spares via Sao Paulo airport, we will not be
responsible for any delay if this kind of transport is used.
If you intend sending any spares please add these costs to the Initial Proforma Remittance.
***Please note carefully: AWB must be made out for MACEIO, and to the name of the vessel, any other
intermediate destination in Brazil will cause extended delays and the necessity to nominate a local custom
broker, increasing expenses and causing such delays that often the ship leaves Brazilian waters before the
spares are cleared.***
2.7) Crew Change
It is possible to arrange a visa for crewmembers on arrival at entry airport. For this we will need to send an
"OK to Board to the Airline Company, but you must supply us with the fax number of the airline. The best
Brazilian entry airport is Sao Paulo, where visa will be granted and the crewmember will be transshipped to
national air carrier, final arrival airport will be at Maceio. You also must supply us with Personal Details of
crewmember (name, date and place of birth, nationality, passport and seamens book number) flight detail

with complete flight timetable, from departure airport to arrival at Maceio airport. Crewmember must have
valid Vaccination Certificate of yellow fever.
2.8) ISPS Code
Owners/Vessel requested to send, by fax, as urgent as possible, maximum 3 (three) days before vessels
arrival, the ship's security certificate (ISSC) or the Interim one. If vessel does not have this document on
board, please let us know immediately. Port of Maceio is compliant and at Level 1 , attached please find
copy declaration of compliance.
2.9) Forms
Hereunder forms that should be filled in and duly sent to us, at least 03 (three) days prior to vessel arrival.
