ADJUSTMENT CATCHES

II.

OBJECTIVE OF DRILL
This is a good movement drill to get players used to catching balls in
different locations.
By working along sideline, this makes the player stay flat and not drift
away from the catch.

III.

FREQUENCY
Use this once every 3 days. (Rotate with other catching drills)
Wide Receivers never catch enough balls in any practice

IV.

RELATIVENESS TO GAME
Working on catching balls in various locations
Chest
Low Below Waist
High Above Shoulder
Back number makes receiver turn shoulders to make a catch that is
slightly behind him.

V.

VERTICAL THROWS

II.

OBJECTIVE OF DRILL
The red line gives us a reference point on the field so we dont get forced
too wide or too far inside by defender on our Go Routes.
This will make the receivers be more consistent on Go Routes and give the
QB room to throw route.

III.

FREQUENCY
Use this once or twice a week depending on receivers feel for running Go
Routes

IV.

RELATIVENESS TO GAME
Receivers develop consistency for running Go Route for QBs
Focusing on the red line keeps receivers from getting to close to the
sideline

V.

DESCRIPTION
Receivers line up on red line (6 yards from the sideline) and run a Go
Route on the red line.
They read flight of ball and adjust if needed to make catch. Receivers will
reach up and make catch at high point with hands.
We will press receivers at times so they must release inside or outside,
slack defender and work back to red line for catch.
We will work vs. Cloud Corner where receiver makes Fade adjustment and
catches the ball in the hole 3 yards from sideline.
