The Indian Independence Movement, which spanned 190 years, was all started with the

First War of Independence in 1857 to end the East India Company rule (17571858) in

the subcontinent and then against the British Raj, who ruled the country between 1858
and 1947.
Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bipin Chandra Pal, Aurobindo Ghosh, Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi, Veer Savararkar, Sarojini Naidu, Subhash Chandra Bose and
100s of leaders struggled against the British Empire to achieve self rule. Historians say
Mahatma Gandhi's nonviolence and civil resistance policy and Subhash Chandra
Bose's armed revolution exerted equal pressure on the British rulers to leave India
finally on Aug. 15, 1947.
The close-to-200-year struggle would not have ended without the participation of the
masses. Many leaders used powerful and inspirational slogans to motivate the people,
thereby making them part of the Indian Independence Movement.
As India gets ready to celebrate its 70th year of Independence from the British on
Monday, it is time to revisit the famous slogans coined by our leaders to inspire the
masses. Below, we bring to you some of the popular slogans:
'Vande Mataram (Hail to the Mother(land))': Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay
'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan; Long Live Youth, Long Live Farmer': Lal Bahadur
Shastri
'Jai Hind': Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
'Swaraj Mera Janamsiddha adhikar hai, aur main ise laker rahoonga (Swaraj
is my birthright and I shall have it)': coined by Kaka Baptista and adopted by Bal
Gangadhar Tilak.
'Satyameva Jayathe (Truth alone will win)': popularised by Pandit Madan
Mohan Malaviya.
'Inquilab Zindabad (Long Live the Revolution)': coined by Muslim Leader
Hasrat Mohani and stands synonymous with Bhagat Singh.
'Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna, Ab hamare dil mein hai': a patriotic poem by Bismil
Azimabadi and used as slogan by Ramprasad Bismil.
Tum Mujhe Khoon do, mai tumhe azaadi doonga (You give me blood, and I
promise you freedom - Subhash Chandra Bose

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely list out policy achievements in what has
been a year of messy political challenges and declare some new development
targets during his Independence Day speech on Saturday, while a media blitz
will brand the government as one headed Towards True Freedom, officials have
said.
This will be Modis second speech from the Red Fort, the customary I-Day
address, in a stately ceremony. A leader who utilises his public speeches to

connect powerfully with the masses, Modi had set a precedent to become the
first prime minister to crowd-source ideas for the signature address. This year,
a government website for the purpose received over 12,000 ideas, some of
which officials have picked for a possible mention by the PM.
Last years I-Day speech followed a euphoric phase of Modis massive election
victory and the government now has to deliver on an ambitious growth-oriented
economic agenda. Modi will seek to keep the faith and magic alive through his
speech.
In his previous Red Fort speech, Modi talked of ending bureaucratic rivalry and
pulling them out of their silos for cohesive action, manufacturing, womens
dignity and toilets.
The Prime Minister is widely expected to list out progress on key policies in the
areas of social security, health, agriculture and the economy.
A robust media campaign will greet citizens on Saturday. The messaging
strategy, spearheaded by the information and broadcasting ministry, has been
crafted around the idea of Towards True Freedom on freedom day.
For instance, hashtags and ad campaigns on five major policies will play around
with this theme. Freedom from dirt, squalor and garbage: Swachch Bharat,
goes the hashtag and adverts for the flagship sanitation programme, along with
Freedom from financial untouchability: Jan Dhan Yojana, Freedom from
illiteracy for girl child: Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Freedom from archaic labour
laws: Shramev Jayate, Freedom from being unfunded: PM Mudra Yojana.
Over the course of last several weeks, the Press Information Bureau had been
tasked with sourcing copious material and data from key ministries, which had
been routed to the prime ministers office as inputs for Modis speech.
He could recall last years I-Day speech and compare it with the governments
progress on those things, a senior official said, requesting anonymity.
Modi could draw up a regional snapshot of whats happening where, another
official said. For instance, Himachal Pradesh has been successfully implementing
the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign, more than 1.5 lakh accounts were
opened under the Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, an insurance scheme, in Rajasthan
and a huge response to the Soil Health Card Scheme was seen in Tamil Nadu.

To be sure, the Modi government has whittled down red tape, allowed foreign
investment in railways, defence, insurance and pensions, while going further to
deregulate fuel prices. It also ushered in private competition in coal mining,
aimed at attracting investors. For social security, three major insurance and
pension plans have been launched in the past year.
Yet, Modi is known to surprise. "Don't rule out some new objectives," a
bureaucrat said. Last years I-Day speech followed a very productive Parliament
session, in contrast to a disruptive monsoon session this time. Some officials
said they wouldnt be surprised if Modi touched upon the issue.

My Duties towards my Country as being a Citizen
Years have been passed since our country got independence from the British rule by the sacrifices
of many great freedom fighters. They were real followers of their duties towards country who really
made possible the dream of freedom in the country by paying very costly cost of lives of millions of
people. After independence of India, rich people and politicians got involved in their own
development only and not the country. It is true that we have been independent from the British rule
however not from the greediness, crimes, corruption, irresponsibility, social issues, child labour,
poverty, cruelty, terrorism, female infanticide, gender inequality, dowry death, gang rape, and other
illegal activities.
It is not enough making only rules, regulations, laws, acts, campaigns and programmes by the
government, they are needed to be followed strictly by each and every Indian citizen to be really free
from all the illegal activities. Indian citizens need to perform their loyal duties towards country for the
betterment of everyone by eliminating poverty, gender inequality, child labour, crimes against women
and other social issues. Indian citizens have right to select their own political leader which can lead
their country in right direction towards development. So, they do not have right to blame bad people
in their life. They must keep their eyes opened while voting their political leaders and chose the one
who is really free of corrupt mind and has capability to lead a country.

Conclusion
It is must for the people of India to perform their duties individually towards country to really become
independent in true sense. It is very necessary for the development of the country which can be
possible only from the end of its disciplined, punctual, dutiful and honest citizens.

Duty towards my Country Essay 6 (400 words)

Introduction
A person has various duties in his/her life towards himself, family, parents, kids, wife, husband,
neighbors, society, community and most importantly towards the country. Duties of a person towards
country are very important to maintain its dignity, bright future, and lead it towards betterment.
Who am I
I am an Indian citizen as I took birth here. As being a responsible citizen of the country, I have many
duties towards my country which I must fulfill all that. I have to perform my duties in various aspects
and all that related to the development of my country.
What is Duty
Duty is a task or action needed to be performed by each and every individual of the country on
regular basis for the betterment and more development. Performing duty loyally is the responsibility
of Indian citizens and is the demand of development in country.
What are my Duties towards my Country
Citizen of a country is the person who lives almost his/her full life and leaves his/her ancestors too,
so everyone has some duties towards country. Take an example of home in which various members
live together however everyone has to follow all the rules and regulations made by a most senior
person or head of the family for the betterment and peaceful life in the home. Just like that, our
country is like a home in which people of various religions live together however they need to follow
some rules and regulations made by the government for more development in the country. Loyal

duties of citizens aim to remove all the social issues, bring real independence in the country and
come under the category of developed countries.
People working in the government or private offices, must go on time and perform their duties loyally
without wasting time as there is a true saying that if we destroy time, time will destroy us. Time
never waits anyone, it runs continuously and we should learn from the time. We should not stay until
we get the goal in our life. The most important goal of our life is to make our country a great country
in true sense.
We should not be selfish people and understand our duties towards country. Its we, not others who
are both, the victim and the benefiter. Our each and every activity affects us in positive and negative
manner (if we do positive we become benefiter and if we do negative we become victim). So, why
we do not take pledge today to take our each and every step positively in right direction in order to
get protected from being a victim in our own country. It is us who have right to rule the country by
selecting a good leader. So, why we blame others or politicians, we should blame only us and not
others as its we who are not performing duties according to the demand. We have been involved in
our own daily routine only and have not any mean to others life, extracurricular activities, political
affairs of the country, etc. It is our mistake that our country is still in the category of developing
country and not in the developed country.
Conclusion
It is a big problem man; we should not take it easy. We should not be greedy and selfish; we should
live and let others live a healthy and peaceful life. The bright future of our country is in our own hand.
Still there is a time and chance for us, we can do better. Start living with open eyes and perform true
duties towards the country. We should maintain the cleanliness of our heart, body, mind and
surrounding areas for the good start.
