AIRPLANE WEIGHING PROCEDURES:

1. Preparation :
a. The tires have been inflated to recommended operating pressures.
b. The fuel tank sump quick-drain fittings has been removed and the

fuel line drain plug has been removed to drain all fuel.
The oil sump drain plug has been removed to drain all oil.
The sliding seats have been moved to the most forward position.
The flaps have been raised to the fully retracted position.
All control surfaces have been placed in neutral position.

2. Leveling :
a. The scales have been placed under each wheel (500# minimum
capacity for scales)
b. The nose tyre has been deflated and/or the nose strut has been
lowered or raised to center bubble on level. (see figure 6.1)

3. Weighing :
a. The weight shown on each scale have been recorded with the
airplane level and brakes released. The tare, if any, have been
deducted from each reading.

4. Measuring :
a. Measurement A have been obtained by measuring
horizontally (along the airplane centerline) from line stretched
between the main wheel centers to a plum bob dropped from
the firewall.

b. Measurement B have been obtained by measuring

horizontally and parallel to the airplane centerline, from
center of nose wheel axle, left side, to a plum bob dropped
from the line between the main wheel centers. The action
have been repeated on right side and the average
measurement has been recorded.

5. The airplane weight and Center of Gravity have been determined by

using weights from item 3 and measurement from item 4.

6. The Basic Empty Weight has been determined by completing figure 6.
