EVENT ORGENIZER:
RISC-LPU
ROBOTICS AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEM COMMUNITY is a community directed by
students of LOVELY PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITY. It works for students by the student
under the aegis of DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS.
We work on various innovative projects which will bestows creative minds thinking patterns to
the upcoming future engineer/scientist so that our mind can boost enough so that we can face any
hurdles in the way of learning new tactics to deal with ever changing or dynamic technology.
Also we hope, it is our soul duty to work on those projects which will make our university
technically advanced and prepare our country well enough to compete with other established
high tech countries & also the emerging countries which are technically very sound. We are
technically far behind in compare to those technically advanced countries.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

ELECTRIC-SOLAR VEHICLE CHAMPIONSHIP is the competition to design and


fabricate a single seated vehicle which is operated by motor; it can be AC or DC. Where power
source will be battery as well as solar panel.
The purpose of the event is to build up interest towards Mechatronics projects, and enhance
theoretical as well as practical knowledge of under graduate student along with management and
team work.
Our aim is to reduce the usage of organic fuel powered vehicle and design environment friendly
electric power vehicle.
The competition having a challenging cost limitation maximum 60,000 -/ Rs. And competition
also restricted weight of vehicle; it should be maximum 150 Kg without driver.

RULES AND REGULATION:
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: All the official announcements and the information regarding
the competition will be displayed on the website of ROBOTICS AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEM
COMMUNITY.
Which is www.risclpu.com and www.facebook.com/electric-solar vehicle championship. After
completion of registration, important information will be sent through the emails to the
respective teams captain and faculty advisor. The rules will be same throughout the event and
any amendments will immediately be made known to all the participating teams.

RULES AUTHORITY:
All the rule and regulation which are to be followed by every team. RISC-LPU having right to
impound each and every rule regarding to our event ELECTRIC-SOLAR VEHICLE
CHAMPIONSHIP.

VALIDITY OF RULE: All the rules though out event will be same and if there any change,
immediately we will inform through the E-mails, website or our face book page.

RIGHT TO IMPOUND:
Any register team can call for technical inspection and examination as well as we can ask any
question related to vehicle during the event at any stage.

BEHAVIOR:
All the member of each and every team will follow the rule of LPU during the competition; any
member failure to follow the rules will result in 20 % point detected. Arguments with officials
may result in the team being eliminated from event.

REQUIREMENT:
TEAM REQUIREMENT:

Team Name: Every team should have an inspirational name.


Team Logo: Every team should have an attractive team logo.
Team Captain: Every team require a team captain and vice team captain.
Discipline: Every team member must be undergraduate / diploma student.
Driver: Every team should have two drivers; driver must be minimum 18 years old. The
driver should have a valid driver licence and we can verify that any time during event.
Faculty Advisor: Every team require to having two faculty advisors (One from
Mechanical department and one from Electronics or Electrical department).
Team Member: Every team require having minimum 12 members and maximum 20
members, and 2 faculty advisor.

NOTE: Multiple teams can participate from same college/ university in electric- solar vehicle
championship, but every team should have different faculty advisor.

TEAM REGISTRATION:
Team Registration is open in our website www.risclpu.com from 1st July. Once the team has been
registered online the payment can be done within 15 working days from the date of registration. In
case of payment failure within the due dates, online registration will be cancelled. After online
registration and the payment confirmation, a copy of the online registration form (attested by
HOD/Dean of the respective College/University) and the bank deposit slip must be posted within 15
working days.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENT:

Material: Teams are free to use any material but that should be full file the safety
requirement. The tube/rectangular pipe used in the fabrication of the Chassis or the
other frames/supports must be seamless.
Wheel base And track Width: The wheelbase of the vehicle must be at least 44

inches and the smaller track width (front or rear) must be 75% of the Wheelbase of the
vehicle.
Weight: The vehicle must not exceed 150kg without the driver sitting on it.
Ground Clearance-With the driver aboard there must be a minimum of 2.5 inches
of static ground clearance measured from any lowest point.
Suspension: Team are free to use the suspension system in their vehicle, But if any team
wishes to use the suspension system, it must be used in all four wheels and a total travel
of at least 3 inches must be there.
Wheels and tyres: Team is allowed to use wheel rim and tyre of their own choice.
Steering System: The steering system must be able to control (simultaneously) at least
two wheels. The steering system must have positive steering stops that prevent the
steering linkages from locking up either in RH or LH turning. Allowable total steering
system free play is limited to 5 degrees, measured at the steering wheel. The steering
wheel must be mechanically connected to the front wheels, i.e. steer- by-wire of the
front wheels is prohibited.
Braking System: The vehicle must be equipped with a braking system that is operated
by a single control. Brake-by-wire systems are prohibited.
Jack Point- There must be two jack points in the vehicle, one in front and the other in
the rear end.
Visibility Requirement: the power train segment should be clearly visible to the
examiner.
Impact Bumper: impact bumper is compulsory for all teams. There should equipped
with proper bumper in front, rear and side.
Brake Light: The vehicle must have a brake light of red colour which should
easily visible from rear side.
Kill Switch: The vehicle equipped with at least one kill switch, which capable
to cut all electric connection.
Lock Nut: Use of lock nut is compulsory for each and every team without
Lock Nut there will be 10 % deduction in your points.
Push Bar: Vehicle must have a Push bar which should capable to push and
pull the vehicle.
Motor: The motor will provided by RISC-LPU to selected teams in virtual
round. The teams will be given the motor on subsidized rate bye official
sponsor. The maximum power of the motor will be 1KW.
Battery: The battery will also provided by RISC-LPU on subsidized rate by
official sponsor. The maximum specification
Solar Panel: teams are free to use solar paint or panel. But panel frame
must not exceed 85 fit.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Helmet: The driver of vehicle requires having helmet, which should certified ISI or ISO.
Seat and Seat belt: The driver seat must be rigid and there must be a set of seat belt.
Shoes and hand Gloves: The driver should have worn proper driving shoes during
dynamic round and drive must have proper and comfortable hand gloves.
Wire Path: wiring should in proper way and wire should not under the chassis.

DYNAMIC ROUND:
Selected team trough virtual will participate in dynamic round with the vehicle fabricated by
them; all teams will undergo TECHNICAL INSPECTION and BRAKE TEST. After passing
both test team will permitted to participate in rest of event. Point table is following for dynamic

ENENT DETAILS:
VIRTUAL ROUND:
Virtual round consist 600 point; in which team will represent their design, research and
development in front of judge in 15 Min. there will be questioner round along with personal
interview station.

Complete design of vehicle: complete cad model must be provided in front of judges
during the presentation.
Design reports: Design report should have contained all the technical specification and
at least 4 view of the vehicle. Report must be in IEEE format.
Cost Report: The cost report should be on the basis of market survey based and dont
exceed 60,000 -/
DFMEA: Design failure mode and effect analysis is a step by step representation of
mode of failure during manufacturing and assembly process. And analysis the effect or
cause of error which will effect on efficiency and potential of the vehicle.
DVP: Design Validation Plane is the assurance of the vehicle service, which meets the
customer satisfaction. It also involves the acceptance, reliability, durability and suitability
with external customer. All the virtual and test during implementation and analysis are to
be included.
Gantt chart: Gantt chart includes all the process during manufacturing of vehicle from
starting date to final date. This chart is basically the management of the project and
distribution of different tasks in the team members with completion deadlines.

DYNAMIC ROUND:
All team will pass through the Technical inspection and Brake test. After qualifying of both test
team will permitted for rest of event. All team should have hard copy of their design report,
judges can ask question to any member of the team. And their will 10 min presentation of cost
report as well as B-plan.
Technical Inspection: Technical Inspection is the inspection of the vehicle whether the
vehicle has been manufactured as per the rules and the restrictions mentioned in the ESVC
rule book and the technical inspection sheet.
No team will permitted for event without qualifying T.I. O.K.

Brake test Acceleration: Brake test is mandatory to pass, without passing this test
vehicle will not allow for the rest of the event. Each vehicle will be given 4 attempts to
pass the brake test. But in case if the vehicle passes the test in first attempt it will not be
given any other trials.
Along with brake test, Acceleration determines the time it takes the vehicle to accelerate
along 100 ft. Each team may make two (2) attempts but with different drivers. Scoring will
be based on the better of the two attempts.
Night Riders: The aim of this test to check the ability of vehicle on halogen light on
solar panel at night time.
Layout: Teams are requiring design mechanism, which directly work on solar panel. In
which we will remove batteries and all the vehicle will run under the halogen lights.

NOTE: Each team Scoring will be based on the efficiency. Timing may be done using either
electronic systems or stop watches.
Scoring Formula- Night Riders = 45x [(T maxTyours)/ (TmaxTshortest)]

Auto cross: The aim of this test to measure the ability of vehicle Manoeuvrability and
handling qualities on a tight course without the hindrance of competing vehicles. Auto cross
combine the feature the braking, acceleration and cornering ability of the vehicle.
Each team may make two attempts but with different drivers. Scoring will be based on the
better of the two attempts. Timing may be done using either electronic systems or stop
watches.
Scoring Formula- Autocross score = 150x [(MAXIMUM TIME YOUS TIME)
PenaltiesCones Down Or Out- Two seconds per cone, including any after the finish line.
Driver must re-enter the track at or prior to the missed gate or a twenty (20) second penalty
will be assessed. Penalties will not be assessed for accident avoidance or other reasons
deemed sufficient by the track officials.

Innovation: The innovation done in vehicle which is most effective and necessary in
manufacturing / transmission/electrical / or in other form will be awarded point on the basis
of effectiveness of innovation. Judges can ask question regarding innovation from any team
member.
Light Weight: As we will provide same battery and motor to every team, but team has to
make the lightest possible weight with given specification.
Scoring Formula: 100 [HEAVIEST VEHICLE YOURS VEHICLE WEIGHT]
Endurance Test: The Propose of this test to measure the efficiency and
performance of the vehicle. The Vehicle would be drained with the previous charge
and would be allowed to charge for 30 min. In this amount of charge the vehicle which
travels the maximum distance wins. The maximum and the minimum would be marked
as a standard and all other Vehicle would be given marks relatively. Single attempt is only
allowed.
