Introduction

1.1

Intention of the document

Hitachi Zosen Inova AG

The purpose of this specification is to define the marking of electrical, instrumentation, and
control components including: connecting boxes, cables, cubicles, wiring inside cubicle,
measurements, and control and regulation components.
This specification is based on "Kraftwerk-Kennzeichensystem (KKS)" system which shall be
complied with. The application of the KKS system is defined in the following sections.
The KKS of the main equipment shall be obtained from HZI P&IDs and single line diagram.
All labels shall be in English.
Note: Notwithstanding the above, the wiring and labelling of internal components of
switchboards and control boards must be in accordance with BS EN 61439. Furthermore,
all safety signage shall be in accordance with the norms, standards, and regulations,
specified in the TSD.
The labels shall be approved by HZI and shall match the designations in the mechanical
and electrical schematic diagrams.
Equipment shall have only one designation unless specific permission is obtained from the
employer.
When a wire numbering system is used it should be in accordance with a recognised
marking system or with a functional marking system or as specified elsewhere

The labelling shall comply with the requirements of BS EN 61439 and other applicable
British Norms, standards and directives.
The label identifying the switchboard as a whole should include the following information:
Manufacturer
Manufacturers unique identification number
Rated Operating Voltage
Rated Current
Rated Short Circuit Current
Plant KKS designation
Function e.g. Common1 400 V switchboard
When the switchboard has a dual supply then there should be a label warning the operator
to isolate the power supply from both sources before opening the switchboard.
Each cubicle and item of equipment and component, must have a durable label of noncorrodible material e.g. stainless steel or Trafollite (or similar), indelibly stamped or
engraved, and legibly marked with the circuit or equipment designation and description
which correspond to the drawings and documentation. The labels shall have black
characters at least 6 mm high on a white background. These labels shall be Trafollite and
not be of the plastic strip type Labels shall be affixed by means of machine screws, and
prominently displayed. Labels shall be fixed to all equipment, prior to despatch. The labels
shall not be fixed to components but shall be positioned adjacent to the component such
that they are not obscured by any other equipment. In all cases the label should be
positioned so as to leave no doubt as the item to which it refers.
All the panels must be labelled at the front, and rear, of the fixed part (and inside), using the
KKS circuit designation as specified on the project single line diagram or loop diagram The
information conveyed shall include a description, connected equipment number, and the
function of the equipment.
All wiring and cores in control and instrument cables shall be identified in accordance with
the associated schematic and/or wiring diagrams either by means of discrete wire numbers
or wire colours, except when an automatic or proprietary system of wiring is used, e.g. point
to point wiring on a mother board. Each end of every core shall be identified using plastic.
The equipment shall have potential risk of electrical shock warning plates as required by
the regulations, and as necessary, including on the control cabinet.
All labels shall be in English.
The following labelling should be provided in addition to the requirements above.
