Mr.

Chlorine on His
Way to Find a Bond

Hello, this is Mr. Chlorine. He is a single, yellow-green gas, but still a very
attractive young element on his way to finding a bond. He has been on a lookout for
another element to fulfill his missing electron of his valence shell of 7 electrons.
Being the 17th child of all elements, and living with his family of halogens, he lives
on lane 17 of block p in house number 3. His several brothers include Flourine,
Bromine, Iodine, and Astatine, all of which are fatter than him except Iodine. Mr.
Chlorine holds a fit radius of 79pm and a body mass of 35.453 amu.

As he began getting ready for work and hopped into his business attire, his
level of affinity was at -349 KJ/mol. With his excitement (electronegativity) at 3.16,
he was sure that he was going to get some hint of a chance of meeting another
element that was in need of a bond.

Off to work, Mr. Chlorine went. He had several jobs including working as a
disinfector for cleaning, a water purifier, and as a bleacher. He had to work multiple
jobs in order to pay off his bills as he only earned around $0.15 per 100 minutes
(grams). He got quite sweaty while working as the weather hit -109.98C around
noon, and by early afternoon, the sun was shining right on him causing his moods to
bounce all around at -34.6C. Finally when work was over, he began on his nice long
walk home. When he was almost at his own doorstep, he spotted his neighbor Mr.
Sulfur, and waved to say hello. Seeing Mr. Chlorine, Mr. Sulfur began walking over.

Hey Chlorine, didnt you say youve been out searching for a bond, cuz I just
got a notice that there is going to be a huge party over in lane 1. I hear that there
are lots elements there that hold an extra electron that you could probably bond
with.
Yeah, that seems like an amazing chance for me to find a bond to complete
my valence soul.
Keeping in mind of the party, Mr. Chlorine headed back inside his home.

The next day was the day of the party, and was a weekend so Mr. Chlorine
decided to get some more rest then, get ready to go to the party. He was so excited.
Looking all brushed up and good-looking he later set out on his bike towards lane 1.
It turns out that the party was a mega huge party that was held by all elements
right in the middle of the street. There were fun and games, and food and music
blasting. It was almost like the party was a mini fair.

Walking through the entrance, young Ms. Hydrogen gave him a polite
welcome. She was one attractive young element. He could feel a dipole moment of
1.05D between them. Ms. Hydrogen felt the same, too, and soon the two were
sitting down at a table and having a wonderful conversation. She was feeling a
sense of their relationship being polar while being together. Feeling a non-resistable
relative bond energy of 432 KJ/mol they decided to go over to Ms. Hydrogens home
where they had a nice bond session. After that, without hesitation, Mr. Chlorine
asked Ms. Hydrogen to marry him. And immediately, Ms. Hydrogen gave him an
absolute yes. The next day they were married and turned into the couple known as
the liquid HCl.

While being together, they both gained a significant size change to a length
of 127pm, and their mass increased to 36.46 g/mol. They had a straight bond order
of 1, and a linear (180) relationship. This meaning that their dipole-dipole
relationship stayed as one of the stronger bonds of those bonds that came very
quick( since normally fast bonding relationships dont always go well, theirs actually
tended to stay quite strong of their type of attraction).

Together they had learned that they both held some opposites and some
similarities in their life. They both had formal charges of 0, and while being
together in different environments, they would both boil at 383K and melt at 247K.
One opposite that they had was that Ms. Hydrogen got an oxidation number of +1
while Mr. Chlorine had a number of -1. Though the amount of money they earned in

making batteries was not a whole lot, they still loved each other. They also didnt
care about how they did not have a resonance structure or a hybridized orbital
diagram like some of the other covalent bonds do. As long as they loved each other,
they were happy.

Inside the party, Mr. Chlorine had some food and drinks while looking around
for possible bonds. There were so many choices, but some of the bonds were a bit
too much for him to handle. He wanted a rather easy and common relationship in
bonding. Thats when he spotted Ms. Sodium whose was perhaps the only one

wearing nice and simple clothes to him, while still looking pretty. Mr. Chlorine went
up to her complimented upon her young and beautiful features. Being flattered, Ms.
Sodium was sparked with a sense of happiness and attraction for Mr. Chlorine and
they began to have a nice chat.

Mr. Chlorine felt a ping of voltage (4.07V) between them as their conversation
continued happily with much pleasure and excitement. As the sun was shining down
during early noon, the temperature was already at around 800.8C, causing for
them to feel a bit of a meltdown, so they both decided to go to the pool. By the time
they reached the pool, they could feel their sweat evaporating up as the
temperature rose up all the way to 1465C. Together they entered the pool. In the
pool, they felt as if they became slightly dissolved into the water (solubility of 35.9g
NaCl/100g water).

As they continued to bond and have fun, their relationship and bond grew
much stronger, as it would take a high lattice energy (787.3 KJ/mol) to ever break

them apart. It didnt take long for them to decide to get truly bonded in marriage.
Together they had no trouble with each other/conducted as a couple in means of
being liquids and as aqueous, but just not when they were in solids because when
they were solid all they would do was fight (not conduct).

2 Na(s) + Cl(g) ----->2 NaCl(s)

Soon they were actually able to afford a grand mansion as the amount of pay
they earned together was much higher than when they were single. They earned a
total of $0.90 per 10 minutes they worked! Its most likely because they work in
many different jobs of many variations. From helping to melt snow all over all the
lanes and blocks to helping out in the medical field as IV infusions, and being one of
the most popular seasoning workers on food.

Living a wonderful lifestyle, Mr. Chlorine and Mrs. Sodium made a wonderful
couple as the well-known NaCl.
