Implementation Manual
This implementation manual contains the steps to install the following software:
1. JDK 7
2. NetBeans IDE 7.2
3. SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition
The following table lists the support software that you need to perform the lab exercises.

The List of Support Software

Prerequisites
You need to perform the following tasks on each student node before beginning the lab exercises:
1.

Create a folder with the name, PIJ in the D:\ drive.

2.

Create a sub folder with the name, Software in the D:\PIJ folder.

Installing JDK 7
To install JDK 7, you need to perform the following steps:
1. Browse to the location, D:\PIJ\Software.
2. Double-click the JDK 7 software, such as, jdk-7u17-windows-x64.exe file. The User Account
Control dialog box will be displayed.
3. Click the Yes button. After a few moments, the
Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 17 (64-bit) Setup page of the Setup wizard is displayed.

Note
In case your login does not have administrative rights, you need to provide
administrative credentials in the User Account Control dialog box, and then click the
Yes button.

Click the Next button. The Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 17 (64-bit) - Custom Setup page
is displayed.
Click the Next button. The Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 17 (64-bit) Progress page is
displayed. After a few moments, the Java Setup Destination Folder page is displayed.
Click the Next button. The Java Setup Progress page is displayed for a few moments and then
disappears. Thereafter, the Java SE Development Kit 7 Update 17 (64 bit) Complete page is
displayed.
Click the Close button. After a few moments, the register Notepad window is displayed.
Close the register Notepad window.

Note
In case, in step 7, a Web page is displayed instead of the notepad window, close the
Web page.

Note
The software gets updated frequently on the website. Therefore, the name of the
software and the dialog box may vary.

Installing NetBeans IDE 7.2

To install NetBeans IDE 7.2, you need to perform the following steps:
1. Browse to the location, D:\PIJ\Software.
2. Double-click the netbeans-7.2-ml-javase-windows.exe file. The User Account Control dialog box
is displayed.
3. Click the Yes button. After a few moments, the Welcome page of the NetBeans IDE Installer
wizard is displayed.

Note
In case your login does not have administrative rights, you need to provide
administrative credentials in the User Account Control dialog box, and then click the
Yes button.

Click the Next button. The License Agreement page is displayed.

Select the I accept the terms in the license agreement check box.
Click the Next button. The JUnit License Agreement page is displayed.
Click the Do not install JUnit option.
Click the Next button. The NetBeans IDE 7.2 Installation page is displayed.
Click the Next button. The Summary page is displayed.
Click the Install button. The installation starts. Once the installation is completed, the Setup
Complete page is displayed.
11. Click the Finish button.

Installing SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition

To install SQL Server 2012 Enterprise edition, you need to perform the following steps:
1. Insert the SQL Server 2012 DVD into the DVD drive.
2. Browse to the DVD drive
3. Double-click the Setup.exe file. After a few moments, the SQL Server Installation Center
window appears, as shown in the following figure.

Note
If the User Account Control dialog box is displayed, click the Yes button.

Note
The SQL Server 2012 message box may be displayed for a while during the installation
process, as shown in the following figure.

Click the Installation link in the left pane. The various links are displayed in the right pane of the
SQL Server Installation Center window, as shown in the following figure.

Click the New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation
link in the right pane. The SQL Server 2012 Setup window is displayed after a while, as shown in
the following figure.

Click the Show details button. The details of the SQL Server setup support files are displayed in the
Setup Support Rules page, as shown in the following figure.

Click the OK button. After a few moments, the Product Key page is displayed.
Ensure that the Enter the product key option is selected and the product key is displayed in the
text box provided under the Enter the product key option.

Click the Next button. The License Terms page is displayed, as shown in the following figure.

10. Select the I accept the license terms check box.

11. Click the Next button. The Install Setup Files page is displayed for a few moments, and then the
Setup Support Rules page is displayed, as shown in the following figure.

Note
While installing, the SQL Server Setup searches for updates through the Windows
Update service. If it fails to search for the updates, the Product Updates page is
displayed, as shown in the following figure.

Click the Next button to continue.

12. Click the Next button. The Setup Role page is displayed, as shown in the following figure.

16. Click the Next button. The Instance Configuration page is displayed, as shown in the following
figure.

17. Ensure that the Default instance option is selected.
18. Click the Next button. After a few moments, the Disk Space Requirements page is displayed.

19. Click the Next button. The Server Configuration page is displayed, as shown in the following
figure.

20. Click the Next button. The Database Engine Configuration page is displayed, as shown in the
following figure.

21. Select the Mixed Mode (SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication) option in the
right pane.
22. Enter the password for the sa user account in the Enter password text box.
23. Enter the same password in the Confirm password text box.
24. Click the Add Current User button. The name of the current user is displayed in the Specify SQL
Server administrators text area.
25. Select the FILESTREAM tab.
26. Select the Enable FILESTREAM for Transact-SQL access check box to enable FILESTREAM
on this instance of SQL Server.
27. Select the Enable FILESTREAM for file I/O access check box.
28. Select the Allow remote clients access to FILESTREAM data check box.
29. Click the Next button. The Analysis Services Configuration page is displayed.
30. Click the Add Current User button in the right pane. The name of the current user is displayed in
the Specify which users have administrative permissions for Analysis Services text area.

31. Click the Next button. The Reporting Services Configuration page is displayed.
32. Click the Next button. The Distributed Replay Controller page is displayed.
33. Click the Add Current User button in the right pane. The name of the current user is displayed in
the Specify which users have permissions for the Distributed Replay Controller service text
area.
34. Click the Next button. The Distributed Replay Client page is displayed.
35. Click the Next button. The Error Reporting page is displayed.
36. Click the Next button. The Installation Configuration Rules page is displayed, as shown in the
following figure.

37. Click the Next button. The Ready to Install page is displayed.

38. Click the Install button. The Installation Progress page is displayed for 20-25 minutes, and then
the Complete page is displayed, as shown in the following figure.

Note
Along with the Complete page, the Computer restart required dialog box may also be
displayed, as shown in the following figure.

Click the OK button.

39. Click the Close button. The SQL Server Installation Center window is displayed.
40. Close the SQL Server Installation Center window.
