ABSTRACT
In this fast growing era we need a receipt of pay for any product where money is
involved. Also the seller should have one copy or database of the products and goods selling. In
that receipt we include the amount which is to be printed on receipt, a stamp of that seller and
punch to keep that receipt in file for record purpose. For this process too much time get
consumed. Also it requires some human efforts to follow the sequence of finalization of the
receipt.
Looking towards this problem there was a need of an automated machine which will
consume small time to carry out the processes and minimize the human efforts. A survey
conducted in college office for fees collection resulted that it is consuming too much time and
manpower also. In the college office there were 4 processes happening for a perfect receipt
formation viz. printing the data on the page, punching of page, college stamp on it and cutting of
that page into two parts, one is to student and one is for college records. Hence the solution
found was to make a machine which can perform these operations within a stroke and after
printing the machine will give a perfect receipt as an output.

INTRODUCTION

In day-to-day life every person giving an importance to time, as we are the engineers and
engineers always works to make people life comfort. We are working on to reduce the human
effort and most valuable time.
We are the students of mechanical engineering department and we start looking for some
ideas for project we started from our campus and we went to main office where students pays
their college fee and get its receipt but for that faculties found some difficulties because almost
all work is done manually and then we started thinking on that as project where we can reduce
their effort and time.
We were worked a lot on this project for reducing the human effort as well as the time.
Here we have designed an innovative machine which can be used for multipurpose operations
like printing, stamping, cutting and punching with the help of single machine. Where these
operations will be done one after another.
For this three operations three different machines are require and different machine parts
also but in automatic documentation machine all these three operation will done in only single
machine and cost of this machine is less than these three different machines. Also this machine is
compact and adaptable to any kind of space criteria.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to construct an automatic documentation machine:

Paper punch:-
A paper punch is a relatively simple device also called a hole punch, that is often found
in the office or school room, that punches holes in paper.
The purpose of the humble paper punch is to punch holes in paper, so that sheets of paper
can be collected and stored in a binder. A paper punch is also commonly used to punch holes in
paper tickets to prove admission or usage.
History
In 1885, Benjamin Smith of Massachusetts invented an improved hole punch with spring-loaded
receptacle to collect the clippings U.S. patent number 313027). Benjamin Smith called it the
conductor's punch.
In 1893, Charles Brooks patented a paper punch called a ticket punch. It had a built-in receptacle
on one of the jars to collect the round pieces of waste paper and prevent littering. View the full
patent issued to Charles Brooks for his ticket punch.

Paper cutter:History
Paper cutters, similar to those of today, were patented in 1844 and 1852 by Guillaume
Massiquot. They have been around since the late 1830s, when, in 1837, Thirault built a model
with a fixed blade to a flat surface. Since the middle of the 19th century considerable

improvements have been made by Fomm and Krause of Germany, Furnival in England, and

Punching
Cutting
According to the need of our project gear train is used. Here we require three spur gears,
three rollers which are parallel to each other, three shafts on which rollers are mounted
and three bearings.
Here we perform three mechanisms viz. punching, cutting, and stamping.
For stamping we provide a slot on roller. In slot we attach a stamp which can stamp on
pages.
Pages move to the next roller the next roller consist of extruded part which punch the
pages and moves to next roller.
The next roller consist of slot provided on one of its and other roller extruded part,
When pages moves between this two roller the page cut a ready to use.
NEED OF MACHINE
The operations like cutting, punching and stamping are done manually but by using this
machine we can do these operations automatically.
For performing these operations three different devices or machines were used
conventionally. Also these 3 processes require more space, time and manpower.
To overcome this drawback we introduce this automatic documentation machine.
When we perform these operations by manually the accuracy is low but if we perform on
machine the accuracy will be higher.

In the survey of our college, we found the problem of collecting the receipt in office and
tried to find the solution. We recognized that while forming the receipt of fees, there is
requirement of two men for printing, punching, stamping and cutting of the paper. Also it
was a time consuming process. Hence we decided to work upon that.
After studying case studies we started to design a compact machine which will perform
all the processes in same manner but in less time and without involvement of human and
hence it became our vision in this project.

Spur gear: Spur gears are used to transmit the power from one shaft to another.
Material used for spur gear is plastic/fiber which is light in weight.

Rollers: It is used to move page forward. Here we are going to use four rollers.
Material for roller is also plastic with mat finish.
Stepper motor: It is used to give input for gears, (12volt) dc motor
Cutter: It is used to cut the page into two pieces.
Which is mounted on forth roller
Bearing: It is to give support to rotating shafts.

On second roller we cut a circular slot and on third roller we extrude a part so that when
page comes on it the extruded part will insert into the slot and punching operation will
perform.
On forth roller cutter is attached and on the third roller a slot for cotter is provided so that
the cutting can be done.
