SunoSoft Overwrite Protect 1.0 free

Goal of the program

Program SunoSoft Overwrite Protect 1.0 free is intended for those users
who are saving a lot of files and file them in the same directory. In this case
usually you have to rename many files or they get lost when youll overwrite
them (of course this things happens only to very very important files). This
is the case, if you are the type of user, who:
saves a lot of data from Internet,
scans the documents and scanning software can not auto-rename your
images,
copies a lot of files and tends to have files in the same directory.
Of course there are many similar occasions and some of them are described
on picture below.

The first use of SunoSoft Overwrite Protect

In this section we will shortly discuss the setup, configuration of source directory and configuration of destination directory.

2.1

Setup

First you will have to save program package from SunoSoft (http://www.sunosoft.com)
homepage or from some Internet mirror. All setup files are combined in the
same file. Format of the file is zip. Open the package. If you do not
have a propriate software Winzip, you can download it from Internet page
http://www.winzip.com for free, or you can use some other software for managing zip package.
Inside the package there age the following files:
DISK1.ID
SETUP.EXE
SETUP.INI
SETUP.INS
SETUP.PKG
INST32I.EX
ISDEL.EXE
SETUP.1
SETUP.DLL
SETUP.LIB
Double click on the setup.exe file. Setup will start automatically. Process
of installation is very simple and everything you have to do is click next
next next

2.2

Frist start of the program

First start is start with no parameters, so you have to decide which temporary directory and which destination folder will be assigned to the program.
Please be advised NOT to use folders with data for temporary
directory. You are strongly adviced to use SunoSoft folder in My
documents folder; SunoSoft folder is created automatically during
the first startup of the program.. Immediately after first boot of the

program you will see in the lower part of the window that your settings have
not been really set, yet. You will see the question marks beside labels [S]>?
(source) and [D]>? (destination).
2.2.1

Setup of the source directory

It is very simple. You have to click on the image of the folder on the left
side of the window (folder with the package). After clicking on the image of

the folder, the next window will open. In this window you have to select the
temporary folder, which you will use as temporary folder when saving data
from your favorite browser, digital camera, CD. Due to protection of your

system files you will notice that you can not select a directory outside My
documents folder. We are sure that you would not be happy, if you suddenly
found out that our program moved all of your system files from one folder
to another. Please, be sure to follow this manual and do not try to bypass
settings later. It is strongly suggested for any user to use ONLY

the SunoSoft folder inside My documents folder. The author of
this program WILL NOT take any responsibilities of any loss of
data. Please, follow this manual strictly when makeing settings of
the source (temporary) directory. When temporary directory is set, you
will see the changes on lower part of program window, example:

2.2.2

Settings of the destination folder

Destination directory is the folder in which youll keep your data downloaded
from Internet, digital camera and so on. Source directory is a temporary
folder that keeps the data only for a while (about a second or so), just to make

sure that a file with the same name does not exist in the destination folder. As
you can see,the destination folder is very very important. If you collect pictures of the airplanes in the folder, named C:\AIRPLANES, and you download
pictures of airplanes, then you have to select this folder as your destination
folder. If you tend to save all your documents as New Document and you save
all New document-s in folder C:\VeryImportantDocuments\Contracts, then
you have to select this folder as your destination folder. In both cases the
only thing you have to remember when downloading or saving a document, is
to download or save it in the folder, selected as a source or temporary folder.
SonoSoft Overwrite protect will have to run at the same time.
Any file in source directory with the same filename as the file in destination
directory, will be renamed. That is if you are saving pictures in source
(temporary) folder and you will download picture named 3.jpg, file will be
renamed, if destination directory already contains a file with the name 3.jpg.
New filename will be SunoSoftCopy13.jpg. Next picture named 3.jpg will
be renamed to SunoSoftCopy23.jpg. Of course all of theese files will end
up in your destination directory and your temporary (source) directory will
be empty.
Destination directory is set up very similar as the source directory. It is
understood that you read the explanations above and that you came to a
conclusion that in this case you are adviced NOT TO USE SunoSoft folder
inside My Documents folder. Any other folder will do just fine. So make a
decision where you will store all of your pictures and set this folder as your
destination folder. Of course, provided that you are aware of what you are
doing and the author of this program will not be the one to blame if you
decide to set C:\Windows directory as your destination directory.

Now you have set the destination directory and you have NOT set this

directory as C:\Windows or ...My Documents\SunoSoft. In this

case, you are ready to start the program.
If you are not sure the if you set the source and the destination directory
correctly, please read this manual again and do not start the program.

2.2.3

Start the program

It is very simple to start. Just click on the picture of the clock. If you
roll over the image with the mouse, a hint will appear. Immediately after

starting the program you will see a new image in program window. If you
click on this image program stops. Program window will be minimized after
5 seconds. As you can see on the picture 9 the program is running. In this
case there is:
1. Icon that stops the program. While running it controls your source
(temporary) folder and everything you save in this folder will be moved
in the destination folder (or renamed and moved if the same file name
exists in the destination directory)

2. Icon for short help. Short help is really short. To understand functions
and methods of this program properly you have to read this manual to
the end.
3. Animation when you see the animation, the program is running
4. Countdown after any start of the program this countdown appears and
ends with minimazing of the window
5. Description of source and destination folder here you can see which
settings are currently in use (and every time you want, you can change
the destination folder, even if the program is running).

You can always maximize the program, the same way as you maximize any
other program (by clicking on the name of the program in the taskbar). An
example is shown on the picture 10.

Using the program

It is quite easy to use the program. After starting it controls everything

you store in your source (temporary) folder and moves it in your destination

directory. For the files with the same filename in destination directory renaming will be made first. Picture shows an example when using SunoSoft
Overwrite Protect Free with Internet browser. Explanation: with the help of

browser the user saves images from Internet. We presume that all pictures
are named images.jpg. User saves all these pictures in a folder, set to the
program as source (temporary) folder. SunoSoft Overwrite Protect runs in
the background and controls these images. It moves images in destination
directory. Finally in the destination directory there all downloaded images.
If the image had the same filename as the one already cointained in destination directory it was renamed, automatically. Stopping the program will

also stop the control over the source directory. If user continues downloading
the pictures, the prompt with the question about overwriting of the file will
be shown. So user has to rename the file, which is to be saved if he or she
wants to keep previously saved file. Otherwise the picture will be replaced
with the new one and previously saved picture will be lost forever.

This annoying window will pop-up more and more frequently as the quantity
of files in destination folder grows. So this is the trouble, from which we get
rid when using SunoSoft Overwrite Protect Free! Lets start it again as
soon as possible, not to loose our important data.

3.1

History

There is a strong possibility that the user will not use only one folder as a
destination folder. Frequently used folders are saved in history of using this
program. Right-clicking over the image of blue (destination) folder shows
small pop-up menu. If you choose History another window will open. In
this new window everything you have to do is to click on destination folder,
which you would like to use from now on. Immediately after your choice of
new destination folder new settings are already in use. There is no need to
stop the program for changing the destination folder.

3.2

Help

If you click on the image of the bulb, the window with small help will open.
Help, provided with the program is very short and just explains what the
program is about. If you click on the label SunoSoft Toys, browser will open

Appendix

Program SunoSoft Overwrite Protect 1.0 free stores its data in INI file (inside
Windows directory). Registry entry is not used except for some reading
purposes. If you know how to manipulate INI files you are again strongly
adviced to follow this manual. Any hostile activity on INI file could make a
serious damage on your data or on your system files. Do not exchange the ini
files between different users, somebody can damage data on your computer
just for strange perception of having fun.
The frequency of this freeware is 1sec.
Some features are not available in freeware version. Connect to our web page
to see when the commercial versions will be available.
This software runs on Microsoft Windows XP computers, Microsoft Windows
2000 computers and I cant see why could not run also on Microsoft Windows
95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows ME and Microsoft Windows
NT computers.
When used on NTFS systems you have to be careful with users rights over
some folders.
