Linking Lives With God and Others

January 2017

This is how Christians celebrate Christmas!

Service of Remembrance

Sharing and generosity seem to be the hallmarks

of our church! See below some of the examples
of how we expressed our love of Jesus with music
and gifts.

Sunday, January 15, 2017 5PM

This time of year, we remember in a special way,
members of our church family who have gone to be
with the Lord during 2016.
Family members are invited to attend, and a special
time of open sharing is allowed for each deceased
person.
We will remember the following:

Farewell Greeting from Pastor Saul:

Words cannot express the deep sense of gratitude that I feel for First Baptist
Church, Sun City West. You have allowed me one of the greatest privileges of
my ministry: to serve as your pastor for the past seven (counting the interim)
years. Rosemary and I have been greatly blessed by your graciousness and
generosity to us during our tenure here. We will always cherish the friends
that we have made here and the opportunity afforded us to share in the
Lords work.
As a congregation you have been cooperative and willing to step out in faith
for some of our major projects. It has amazed me how quickly we were able to
raise funds for our major building project, adding on to the CLC. Your patience was on display during several
projects which caused temporary disruption as improvements were made to the sanctuary. Thanks to your
generosity and some estate gifts, we were able to provide new classrooms and foyer, a new sound system, a
new piano and organ for the sanctuary, chairs for the fellowship hall and a sound booth. Pretty amazing for
our size church!
I think I am most pleased at the mission-mindedness of the church. Without exact figures, I estimate that
during my tenure the church has given over a half million dollars to missions. Again, that speaks well of the
vision and commitment of our members who respond generously to mission causes.
Along the journey together, we have had some fun (for old folk), some laughs and some great inspirational
presentations, some by our own musicians and some by others brought in. We have certainly added a lot
of gospel birds (chicken) to the ministry during our family gatherings and banquets.
So you see, Rosemary and I have much to remember and be thankful for as we transition to a new role
(retirement). We will still be a part of this church, it is our family. I would be remiss, if I didnt give a word of
appreciation to the staff that I have had the privilege of working with for the past seven years. Each of them
has been dedicated to their tasks and to the Lord and has been a blessing to me and to the church.
3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who
began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Phil. 1:3-6)

January 4 Partners on Mission to

Feature Truck Stop Ministries
Driving a semi-truck day after day can be a very lonely way to make a living. Continually being away from
home and family can take a heavy toll.
Fortunately, Desert Pines Truckers
Chapel near Holbrook, AZ is a place
where truckers can find friendship, a
helping hand, and spiritual guidance.
Join us on January 4 and hear the heartwarming
stories of how Chaplain Duane Trudgeon and his wife
Agnes minister to hundreds of truck
drivers from all across our country.

Family Gathering: 5:30 pm

Thanksgiving Dinner
FBCs Annual Thanksgiving Banquet was, in itself, cause to be thankful!
Many enjoyed the feast of turkey, dressing,
etc. and were entertained by Mike Chamberlin
presenting Love Songs of World War II.
So many blessings...
