Social workers in hospitals and medical centers provide frontline services to patients
with conditions spanning the entire health care continuum. According to a national

employment setting for health care social workers (Whitaker, Weismiller, Clark &
Wilson, 2006). For purposes of this document, the term hospital refers to the

In this semester we had only one activity which we conducted survey in Moosa

conducted survey collectively and took interview from ten clients of each person. The
main purpose of that activity to compile a research on drug addicted person and to

know about the actual cause of drug addiction and also highlight the social,
economical, mental and physical issues they face due to their addiction, because our
placement are in drug Prevention agency that is why such kind of field surveys are
much helpful for the understanding of the drug addicted person in our society.

Observation:
It was a good experience to conduct field survey on such spot, because we learned
many new information about the drug addicted persons. We also learned about their

issues like social, mental. Economical and health related etc. such kind of field
surveys is much helpful for social work students to apply theory into practice.

Personal Opinion or Conclusion:

Field work is the most important part of social work; field work placement plays
most important and prominent role to boost up the abilities and competencies of the
students of social work. During their field work they work practically looking theory
and practice both and build up their confidence level they can overcome on their
hesitation and also enhance their abilities. Without participating of field work they
would not be called professional because, social work relies on both theory and
practice. We study the methods and techniques of social work in the class room in
our theory classes and when we go to the field we practically implement on it. We
introduced ourselves as a social worker in to the community and society. During the
field we conducted survey on drug addicted persons in different spot in Karachi.
Case work is one of the most important method of social work and we learned about
case work in field work that how to deal with an individual in the society. We are
placed in medical setup setup as a group when we work together like as a group we
tried to implement the principles technique and methods of social group work and
also try to learn such things.
In a nut shell we learnt lots of new things and information during the field especially
being a part of the society how we can play our role for the betterment of the
individual, group, community and society at large
