ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder complex, involving abnormalities in

insulin secretion and insulin action are influenced by the endocrine system and glucose
intolerance and hyperglycemic. In recent years, increased attention to the bioactive
component of the few plants in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The research used were
male rats Sprague Dawley which have induced alloxan. A total of 20 rats were divided into 5
groups, each group consisting of four mice. The treatments were positive control (metformin
0.012 g), negative control (distilled water), a dose of 1 coffee black rice (0.53 g), a dose of 2
coffee black rice (0:27 g), and a dose of 3 coffee black rice (1:06 g). This study using analysis
of variance is a randomized block design (RAK).
Based on the research results, it is evident that the preparation of coffee black rice
can lower blood glucose levels were very noticeable began on giving at day 3, and achieve
normal blood glucose levels on day 12. Dose coffee black rice is most effective in lowering
blood glucose levels are dose of 3 amounting of 1.06 g / 200 g BB, because it can lower
blood glucose levels of 271.75 mg / dL to 114.25 mg / dL, but the activity of
antihyperglycemic still low when compared to the positive control which reached 92.50 mg /
dL.
