Writing Workshop November 14th-18th

Monday November 14th 11:30-12:25


SOL 1.12 a b c, 1.13 a b e f
Objective: Students will be able to complete their Autobiography.
Discuss as a class what else students could write about. Talk about topics that relate
to the whole class such as what pets they have, what their favorite thing to do is,
etc. Allow students to continue writing. When they are done have students share
with the class.
If students finish early have them do a stencil writing, mini-books or write a letter.
Tuesday November 15th 11:30-12:25

Objective: Students will be able to write about how they would disguise their Turkey.
Read the book Turkey Trouble. Talk about what the turkey did to disguise himself.
Introduce the turkey poem. As a class brainstorm how else the turkey could disguise
himself. Have students start their writing. (If there is time have students record this
or another writing on seesaw.)
Wednesday November 16th 11:30-12:25

Objective: Students will be able to continue their turkey disguise writing.
Hand out students papers from yesterday. Have them continue their writing. As
students finish hand them their turkey paper. Allow them to pick out materials from
the back table and start disguising their turkeys. If there is enough time. Have
students share their writing.
Thursday November 17th 11:30-12:25

Objective: Students will be able write their rough draft of what they are thankful for.
Read the book Thanksgiving is for Giving Thanks. As a class make a list of things
we are thankful for. Explain to students what a rough draft is and allow them to start
their rough draft.
If students finish early let them do stencil writing, mini-books or write a letter.
Friday October 21st 11:30-12:25

Objective: Students will be able to complete the final draft of their writing from
yesterday

Hand out students rough drafts. Tell them to pick one of their rough drafts. Explain
that in a final draft you must write very neatly. Allow students to complete their final
draft. When they are done writing they can draw pictures of what they are thankful
for.
