In T.E.A.C.H we were able to observe classrooms at Clark High School, classrooms throughout the
curriculum. As T.E.A.C.H students we had the opportunity to observe teachers and students and see what
the teachers do when disciplinary action has to be taken. It was surprisingly to see how students treat the
teachers and how the teachers respond back.
Pre-K Camp
On November 9, 2015 my group and I had the chance to observe the senior T.E.A.C.H students
hosting a Pre-K Camp class. There was about 6 kids in room 431 that had an environment of Mickey
Mouse CLubhouse. The theme of the classroom was very appropriate and unique and it was easy to spot
that the students were very comfortable with the way the classroom was put. The teachers had a lot of
music videos to go with what they were doing and honestly I felt as they replayed the video a little too much
boring the students. As toddlers it is very easy for them to get distracted and move on to something else,
and the replaying of the video just made the students really perforate. It is good that they had various
teachers because as little as they are it is very crucial for them to have attention independently. I love how
they only had two rules which is a great idea because if a teacher puts too many rules it can overwhelm a
child. As I observe the teachers didnt have any actions to take when the students are getting rowdy
usually they will have a cute saying but instead they used the word shush. Overall I think the seniors had a
great experience and that hopefully they learn from this experience.
ELL
Ms. Gnazal in room 203 was teaching ELL to about 12 students. ELL is a class full of students that
have a hard time understanding english. In the class she does a review of words that will be on the test.
Ms. G really focuses on the students needs and really tries to make sure that each students understands
before moving on. I absolutely love the way the students are with the teacher as though they can be rude

they still have an open relationship with her. If a student is misbehaving she calls out their name or just
says shush as though its not very effective it seems that it works here and then. I also like how Ms. G talks
only in english to the class but explains with her hands so the students can infer what she is saying. Its so
amazing to see students so engage in learning the new language as they copy the teacher in what she is
saying.
Algebra 2
Ms. Jordan teaches algebra 2 in room 307 to approximately 33 students. When the class walks in
they are disciplined and start on the bellringer that is on the board she gives about ten minutes for them to
work on three problems. Then later on she allows the students to go up to the board and explain the
answer. After that she does review on the homework but only on the ones that students need help with it.
She uses technology such as the Smartboard to show the class what she is doing. One thing that I didnt
like is how she teaches from her desk. On the board she provides what they will learn, what sections from
the book they will be working on and the goal. Ms. Jordan walked around once but she does not walk to the
back of the classroom.
U.S History
Ms. Kraft teaches U.S History for about 14 students. As I observed her class I saw that she was
very sarcastic. She is very open, blunt and honest and yells negative words such as dang, crap, and
damn. I understand that she is a new young teacher but I still feel like she should stay professional. There
was not any direct instruction only because the students were taking a test. Before the test though she
provided a review and went over the study guide. I got this vibe that the students saw her more as a freind
than an educator.

English 10
As I walked into room 425 that included 28 students I notice Ms. Erikson sitting at her desk. Not
once did she get up she had the student aid do everything, because she was behind on grading the essay
that they were suppose to receive back so the students can revise and edit for their final draft. The only
time she got up was to talk to the students on one and one to talk about their rough draft and what they
need to work on. In the beginning of class she had a review to work on making great topic sentences. What
I liked about her class is that she had a long butcher paper that the students can put questions on I think
this was very effective for the shy quiet students that dont usually ask questions during class time.
Conclusion
These teachers stood out to me the most and it was a great experience to observe these teachers.
I notice that ever since the SmartBoard was implemented in classroom teachers stopped getting up in the
classroom and teach on the board now in days teachers just sit at their desk and teach from there. I feel
that if teachers stood up in front of the class the students will be more respectable and more engaged in the
lesson plan.
