DIWA PARTYLIST

Democratic Independent Workers Association

DIWA, or the Democratic Independent Workers Association, Party-list began in 2005 as a
volunteer organization that sought to address the legal concerns of laborers-from abuses in the
workplace, to measures that could be taken in ensuring employees benefits-all these pressing
matters found resolve in the organization.
Its early beginnings and basic principles heralded DIWA Party-list to what it is now: an
organization of independent workers and professionals that stands firm for the cause of itinerant
workers, professionals, security guards, farmers and retired laborers whose causes have not been
protected by organized labor groups and unions, and whose concerns and problems have not
been effectively and directly espoused and defended.
DIWA Party-list won a seat in Congress in the National and Local Elections of 2010.
