Assignment 2- Explanations

**Most of the errors violate rule #3, according to the reading.

** I have realized that any stemmed (structural notes) in the foreground must
appear in the middle ground, so a handful of these contain that violation.
1. The D in the top voice of the foreground isnt in the middle ground, so I have
inserted it in the middle ground. Everything else was correct.
2. The slur in the top voice of the foreground was incorrect, so I changed it,
slurring the C to the A. The slur in the bass of the foreground was also
incorrect, I changed it so that it lined up harmonically with the right hand.
3. The E that is in parentheses in the left hand of the middle ground shouldnt
be there because it isnt structural (according to the foreground). I removed
the slur in the right hand in the middle ground (wasnt necessary), I fixed the
slur in right hand of the foreground so that it would match with the left hand.
4. A structural note was missing from the middle ground, lower voice, and the
slur connecting B-C was incorrect, therefore I changed it, slurring the B-D
(right hand, foreground) so that it made sense harmonically.
5. The notes D and B are not necessary in the top voice of the middle ground, so
they have been removed. The slurs in both hands of the foreground have
been corrected to line up harmonically.
6. The D slurred to the E in the exercise 6, middle ground, wasnt necessary
because it wasnt structural. I fixed the slurs in the left hand of the
foreground so that it would line up harmonically.
7. The slur connecting all the notes was entirely wrong, therefore I fixed it,
slurring the G to the C, and then the B to the C (the notes under the slur were
changing direction).
8. The slur connecting the C to the G was wrong, therefore I fixed it, slurring the
C to the F. This also would make more sense harmonically in the example.
9. I made all the slurs line up in this example since they were all offset. I also
drew a dotted slur, indicating motion to the same note, with a slight
departure (either a neighbor or a consonance skip). The slurs have also been
fixed to make sense harmonically.
