Goal(s) for Professional Growth (written in a manner that allows for progress to be noted)
I will use Iowa Core Standards based rubrics to assess and monitor my students academic progress in their skill
building. They will be assessed after teaching skill appropriate individual lessons.

Name of other teachers collaborating on the same goal: None

Rationale for the Plan

How is the goal related to:
a) your individual needs? I want to be proficient using rubrics to monitor student progress. I will use the
rubrics to communicate progress with students and guardians.
b) your building goals? Through the use of Iowa Core Standards-based rubrics I will be able to identify areas
of strength and areas in need of additional teaching, This will help my lessons, which will provide students
with transferrable skills they will need in their other classes. This will lead to higher credit achievement thus
leading to higher graduation rates.
c) the Iowa Teaching Standards/Criterion?
Standard 1: knowing learners and reporting achievement to students, building, parents, community
Standard 2: increasing my knowledge in how the ELP standards align to content standards
Standard 3: purposeful use of SIOP template in lesson planning and identification of ELP standards
within the lesson
Standard 4: implementation of SIOP lessons with ELP standards
Standard 5: designing assessments with language modes in mind, opportunities to review common
assessment data within the department
Standard 6: selecting activities that increase student interaction with language while maintaining
positive classroom climate

Standard 7: provides opportunities to collaborate with peers across departments in planning as well as
assessment data and intervention.

Check the Iowa Teaching Standards that are addressed in this plan:

1. Enhance Student Achievement

5. Monitoring Student Learning

2. Content Knowledge

6. Classroom Management

3. Planning and Preparation

7. Professional Growth

4. Instructional Strategies

8. Professional Responsibilities

Rationale (continued)
What data do you have to indicate this goal is needed to increase student learning in your class/area? Include
current student data; indicate the source of the data and the time period the data reflect. Interpret the data as it relates
to your goal.
The Iowa Core Standards-based rubrics lists skills the state believes are important for students to know prior to
graduation.
I have chosen rubrics that match my students developmental needs.

How will you know you are successful? List the data that will be used to document progress toward the
accomplishment of the goal(s). (Consider student knowledge, attitudes, skills, aspirations and behavior.)
Students will correctly answer assessment questions and receive a 5 rating to show skill has been mastered.

Action Plan
Describe the action you plan to take in order to accomplish this goal. (This may be an attachment to this document)
I will teach skills listed in the rubrics. I will assess my students for understanding. I will document progress using the
rubrics.

Describe the professional development training and learning opportunities needed in order to accomplish the
established goal(s). Ex. time, access to training, peer coaching opportunities, etc. (should we ask for them to indicate
the expectation of TQ money for their plan?)
TQ money for planning time outside of school hours.

Evidence of Impact/Progress (end of year)

What is the summative evidence of completion of the goal(s) or documentation of progress toward the goal(s)?
Consider:
How did the goal impact student learning?

What data was collected, both formative and summative?

What is the analysis of the information collected?

What was learned?

What future modifications are being considered?

Update (If multiple year plan)

If the goal is continued to another year, describe the current status of the goal(s) including modifications, revisions, or
additions to the Career Development Plan. (For multiple year plan, at the end of each year, revise your Career
Development Plan.)

Signature indicates the evaluator and teacher have discussed the progress on the individual career
development plan.
