January Team Newsletter

Welcome Back! We hope you all had a great holiday break. We are very proud of all of the
performers in both Christmas Shows. It is so incredible to see all of the progress the kids have
made since the beginning of the season. As we head into competition season, it is very important
that every performer is to every rehearsal. Please make sure to check your calendars regularly, as
there are many weekend extra practices in the next two months. Also, see list below. These
rehearsals are mandatory and very important to the creation of our group numbers.

Important Dates

January 7th- Stars Performance for Stellar and Momentum at the Salt Lake Community
College (Lifetime Activities Center) in Taylorsville at 7:00 pm. Arrive at 4:45 pm.

All Star Cheer Competitions


All Cheerleaders, please be aware of the date change for the All Star Competition. The All Star
Association has changed the date from February 18th to February 4th. It is still going to be held at
Bingham High School. 3P competition will still be held February 11th at the Salt Lake Community
College (Lifetime Activities Center). Times will be announced as soon as we receive them. We are so
excited to attend our first All Star Competitions as Gravity. We cant wait to show everyone how
amazing our Gravity cheerleaders are! Please come to support our cheerleaders at their competitions
and cheer them on!

Picture Day
Our Team and Company Picture day will be held on March 10th and11th. Picture day is mandatory for
all team and company members to attend. Every student will get a picture in each costume they
perform in. Exact times will be in the February newsletter.

JUMP and NUVO Dance Conventions


If you are not on a company and you would like to go to the JUMP convention on March 30-April 1,
payment and registration forms are due by February 6th. NUVO will be held May 12-13, Nuvo
payment and registration form will be due by March 23. You can pick up a registration form at the
front desk.These dance conventions are a great opportunity for your child to take classes from

some of the most well known instructors across the country. These opportunities will help your
child grow and progress even more as a dancer. Please support our company members by coming
to cheer them on at competitions!

Will Dance For Kids Hearts and Hands Tickets


All team members were give Hearts and Hands tickets a couple of months ago. We hope that you
have had a huge success in selling these. Please remember that all team members are required to
sell at least 25 tickets and need to be hand them back in by February 2nd to the front desk. If you
need more, we are happy to make more for you. These tickets are $1 each and every ticket
purchased goes into a prize drawing, with the top prize being a round trip flight on Jet Blue. All
the proceeds from selling these tickets will go to the Utah Food Bank. We encourage you to sale
more than your required 25 tickets, as it is going to a great cause, and can be counted as a service
project. The top sellers will also win some great prizes.

Gravity Spiritwear
Dont forget to stop by the front desk and try on the cute Gravity Spirit Wear. There are a lot of
different items to choose from. All order forms along with payment are due by January 12th, 2017.
This will be our last order for the season. Gravity Duffel and Garment Bags will be available to
order soon as well.

Scholarship Auditions
Scholarship Auditions will be held on May 6th. Scholarships cover tuition for a students most
expensive team. Portfolios will be due by April 20th at 10:00pm. No late applications will be
accepted. Start thinking about how you can be creative and stand out now. Information sheets will
be available at the front desk. Scholarships offered include The Forsyth Fine Arts Scholarship,
Defying Gravity Dance Scholarship, Defying Gravity Cheer Scholarship, Fred Martin
Performing Arts Scholarship, and Forsyth Fine Arts Solo Scholarship.

California Trip
The California trip we planned in June will unfortunately be cancelled. We did not get enough
people registered by the deadline.

Team Pictures
We sent out an email a couple of weeks ago about being able to order the team pictures that were
taken by Don Polo. If you missed it, here is the link to go on and purchase these photos directly
through them. The deadline to order these are January 31st. They turned out so cute!

Absences
We are only half way through this season and we have already seen a lot of absences in classes.
Please remember that every child is only allowed three absences per class for the whole year. If
you miss more than three classes, your child will need to make those classes up. Class make up
forms are at the front desk and need to be filled out and handed into one of the directors.
