Mandatory: * the user has to enter a value and the
condition cannot be removed
Proposed: the user can remove the condition from
the list

You can also use input parameters from SAP HANA

views as conditions

Features
Create Segment Using an Attribute - Comparison Operators

THE OPERATOR DETERMINES HOW THE DATA IS FILTERED TO GENERATE

THE NEW SEGMENT.
THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPARISON OPERATORS AVAILABLE.
Equal To / Not Equal To:
Selects one or several single values / or excludes those values.
Greater Than (or Equal To) / Less Than (or Equal To):
Selects all values greater / less than the entered value (or equal to).
Between / Not Between:
Selects the value range between the two values entered / or excludes this value.
Contains Pattern / Does Not Contain Pattern:
Selects all values containing the entered search pattern / or excludes those values. You can enter any pattern
with or without wildcard*.
Contained in File:
Allows you to upload a list of attribute values from a file.
Only for key figures:
Top N / Top N%:
Selects the Top N or the Top N% of a ranked list of the attribute values.
Bottom N / Bottom N%:
Selects the Bottom N or Bottom N% (Last N) of a ranked list of the attribute values.

Features
Example 2 Cases Using a Segmentation Filter With Key Figures
Case 1: Filter on key figure Sales (> 1000) incl.
additional filter on dimension of this key figure
(Sales Org. = 1000)
Case 2: Filter on a key figure (without a filter on a
dimension) applied on an existing segment
representing the same characteristics filter as used
as a dimension filter in case 1 (Sales Org. = 1000)
Leads to different results!
Reason: Only when filtering a key figure via
dimensions this filter works as AND filter, in the
example all customers who have a sales volume
greater than 1000 in sales organization 1000!
In case 2, there are 10 customers out of the 1,362
customres who are assigned to sales organization
1000 but also to another sales organization. The
following key figure filter then selects customers who
have a sales volume of more than 1000 across all
sales organizations.

Features
Create Segment Using an Attribute Date Attribute

WHEN FILTERING ON DATES, YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN:

Preset Period: select one predefined period (e.g. last month)
Custom Period: create your own selection statement by combining search parameters (e.g. next 14 days)
Offset and Duration: enter an offset and a duration
Offset: Via the offset you can shift the start date of the time range into the future or into the past. You can enter a positive or negative value
Duration: Indicates the length of the time range going into the future from the calculated start date.

Date range: select start and end date using calendar

ALSO, YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN:

Fixed filters:
the restriction is fixed with reference to the date when the segment has been created

Dynamic filters:
the restriction is dynamic with reference to the current date. You can recalculate the result
by using button Recalculate in the segmentation modeler (e.g. customers who
purchased a product in the last 7 days related to the current date

Using Reference Objects

Features
Using Reference Objects Business Scenarios

ANSWERING COMPLEX BUSINESS QUESTIONS, SUCH AS

Addressing one contact person per
account, for example, one subscriber
per household.

Selecting the top 5 customers per

country based on sales volume.

Selecting the decision makers within accounts for

which at least one account member meets a specific
criteria (e.g. selecting all CEOs for companies of
which at least one employee has expressed interest
in product ABC)

Creating target groups of contact persons for different

product offers which do not overlap on a household or
account level (e.g. to avoid that two different discounts
are offered within the same household)

Selecting the one person within a

household with the highest revenue

Selecting the top 20 accounts per assigned

sales representative based on margin (e.g.
for load balancing reasons)

Features
Using Reference Objects within Segmentation

THOSE QUESTIONS CAN BE ANSWERED BY SWITCHING THE AUDIENCE

LEVEL (= INVOLVING AN ADDITIONAL SEGMENTATION LEVEL). THIS IS
CALLED REFERENCE OBJECT.
You can enter a reference object in the following segmentation scenarios:
CREATING A SEGMENT FOR A KEY FIGURE WITH OPERATOR TOP N/N% / BOTTOM N/N%
Selects the Top N / N% per reference object.
For example, Top 5 per country

REDUCING A SEGMENT
Reduces the segment to N / N% customers per reference object.
For example, 50 customers per Sales Representative

SPLITTING A SEGMENT
Creates several segments based on split reference objects.
For example, create two segments, each with subscribers of 50% of the accounts (as a result, there is no overlapping of
accounts in both segments)

SUBTRACTING TWO SEGMENTS (A-B OR B-A)

Subtracts one segment from another based on reference objects found in both segments.
For example, exclude customers which share the same Email address

INTERSECTING TWO SEGMENTS

Combines two segments based on the same reference objects found in both segments.
For example, find all customers which share the same Email address

Features
Using Reference Objects - Examples
EXAMPLE: Selecting the top 2 customers per country
based on sales volume

EXAMPLE: Sending an email only to accounts, that dont have

any subscriber participating in rate plan E

1. Create a new segment for the attribute Sales Volume

1. Create two segments for the attribute Rate Plan: one

contains all accounts participating in E (A), one those who are
not participating in E (B)

2. To exclude those accounts who have assigned subscribers

in both segments, you subtract A from B by reference object
subscriber (= email address)
2. Select the comparison operator Top N / Top N%
3. Select Country as reference object
