1. Give one example from your life where you believe you learnt using Classical
Conditioning.

Identify

the

Unconditional

Stimulus,

Unconditional

Response,

Conditional Stimulus and Conditioned response in your example

Ans: Classical conditioning is a theory developed by Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov. It is a

learning process by which a person comes to respond in a specific way to a previously
neutral stimulus after the person repeatedly encounters the neutral stimulus together with
another stimulus that already brings out the response.
I can relate classical conditioning theory to which I have learnt to come in class on time in
one of my teachers class. She was strict and expected everybody on time. When she comes
to class at 9 I would naturally be in that class by 9. Here in this example my teacher is
unconditioned stimulus and time is conditioned stimulus. Similarly my response of coming to
class on time is unconditioned response. Sometimes it happens that the teacher does not
arrive to class on time. Even in such case I respond by coming to class on time even the
teacher does not which is conditional response because the time is related with the teacher
coming to class. This is how I learnt to come to class on time.

2. Give one example from your life where you believe you learnt using Operant
Conditioning.
Ans: Operant conditioning is a theory developed by B.F. Skinner. It is a learning process
in which the behavior leads to rewards or prevent punishments. It basically consist 4 key
concepts:
a. Positive reinforcement
b. Negative reinforcement
c. Positive punishment
d. Negative punishment
Example regarding positive reinforcement: When I was in my school days my father
used to give me chocolates whenever I finish my homework on time. So I always did
my homework on time in order to get the chocolate. Later on it became a kind of
habit of doing homework always on time. Even now in my college I always do my
assignments on time. This is how I learned to do assignments right on time.
Example regarding positive punishment: When I first joined Thames I was in no
intention to attend each and every class and always. But during the orientation we
were told that if we do not meet 80% attendance we will be not be able to give our
board exams. So in a way I learned to attend my each every class. Only during some
extreme exceptions I skip class.

3. Give one example from your life where you believe you learnt using Social Learning
Theory
Ans: Social learning theory asserts that learning is a cognitive process and states that
people learn through observation and direct experience. When people watch others
behavior they try to imitate the same behavior and if they see a positive result they will
repeat the same behavior over again and in negative result they stop the certain behavior.
So in this way people learn by observing

Example: When I was kid I and my younger brother used to fight a lot not serious but the
one like they do in wrestling. We used to watch wrestling on television almost every
time. So we watched and learnt how they fight. We try to exactly copy and fight with
each other. And often it would end with small bruises. Despite the fact of hurting each
other we would try to wrestle over and again. Thus, this is a perfect example of self
learning theory. I observed the wrestling and implemented the same thing with my
brother.
However I stopped that wrestling thing with my brother after I became a bit older.
