ABSTRACT
Background. The increasing incidence (35 new cases) of type II DM in Cikupa
Subdistrict Primary Health Center, Tangerang, Banten.
Purpose. This condition has led to an effort to intervene in order to lower the
incidence of type II DM at the productive age (25-55 years old) in Cikupa
Subdistrict Primary Health Center.
Method. Village Cikupa has been chosen because many cases of type II DM at the
productive age (25-55 years old). A total of 45 respondents participated in this
activity. The method used is the community diagnosis with paradigm Blum and
fishbone diagram to search the cause of the problem. Prioritization of issues
determined. Data were collected using questionnaires and measurements of blood
sugar levels.
Results. Obtained lifestyle as the cause of the problem. The intervention is to
inform education, diabetic gymnastic, measurement and monitoring of blood
sugar levels, and distribute DM control card. A total of 45 people have
participated in this activity. The results of the intervention showed an increase of
knowledge, 60% respondents which can do the diabetic gymnastic well, and
17,78% respondents who suffer from type II DM. Monitoring routinely using
Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle.
Conclusion. Interventions produce a good results and it is expected that activities
which have been made can be do regularly up to another village. So great
expectations with type II diabetes mellitus numbers will decrease, especially in
the district of Tangerang.
