Our annual Daddy/Daughter Dance


is January 27th from 6:30-7:30pm
Cost is $20
If a childs father isnt able to
attend, a special guest can go in
their place!
Please turn in the permission slip that
your child brought home along with the
money by January 20th.

Book Fair!
The whole school is excited about
our upcoming Book Fairan
amazing selection of books is
headed our way!
At the Book Fair you will find the
latest and finest titles for kids, as
well as books of interest to
parents.
Mark your calendar for our Family
Event where the whole family can
join in the fun. And, you can
contribute books to your child's
classroom library.
The Book Fair is a great way to
get everyone excited about
reading.

Fundraising
Treasure Cards will be kicking off on February 20th.
This fundraiser supports Fairview's technology
needs, such as Promethean Boards, projectors, and
computer software. The cards are full of coupons to
local businesses and are valid for a full 12
months. Thanks in advance for your support!

A HUGE thank you to Betsy Arndt for
volunteering to be our PTO President!
We still need a Vice President for this school year. Were
also looking for a PTO President for the 2017/2018 school
year.

Favorite restaurant: I love so many; I can't pick one.
Where did you go to college? Appalachian State University
Favorite thing to do outside of school: I love to go on long walks.
Most rewarding part of being a teacher: Hearing my students go "Oh!" when they understand a
concept.
Name of your 4th grade teacher: Ms. Wagoner (she was my all time favorite teacher)
Why did you become a teacher? I always loved school and learning. I always played school as a
little girl.
Favorite sport/team to watch on TV: Carolina Panthers
Silliest fact about you: I love to sing karaoke!

Volunteer Spotlight for January

Angie Brooks
Angie is in charge of school beautification and
regularly can be found cleaning up the courtyard and
maintaining the pond, planting flowers in the
planters around the school, putting up little garden
flags and seasonal decorationsand more! She helps
out wherever its needed whether with Boosterthon,
5th Grade Legacy committee book sales, the holiday
store, or the flower sale. She's a jack of all trades!

American Girl Night

January 23rd 6:30pm 7:30pm


Students in grades K-5 are invited to the Media Center with an adult for
an American Girl event. Mrs. Shulman will be presenting the American Girl
book series, magazine, and website. Students are invited to bring their
own American Girl doll or any other doll or stuffed animal to this event
(this is optional and not required). Students will get to make a craft and
enjoy tea, lemonade, and cookies.
Donations of tea, lemonade, cookies, beads, and elastic would be
appreciated in order to make this event a success. Please contact Mrs.
Shulman at Heather.Shulman@ucps.12.nc.us if you are able to donate any
of these items.
Forms have been sent home to RSVP for the event.
