SYNOPSIS
RESORT
1.1 Introduction
French resort, which referred to a French version of a townhouse, not a place offering
accommodation.
A resort is an establishment that provides paid lodging, usually on a short-term basis. Resorts
often provide a number of additional guest services such as a restaurant, a swimming pool.
This has been made possible by the emergence of large Indian resort chains and the entrance of
global hospitality players.
Hospitality industry in India has now firmly established itself as the provider of world-class
accommodation services.
The idea of green living has become very important in the daily life of people all around the
globe.
A green way of life helps to protect the environment and reduce the waste left by the inhabitants.
The idea of a green resort is to reduce the amount of waste and provide a cleaner,
environmentally friendly, and healthier atmosphere.
The reduction of waste eventually leads the resort to a decrease in toxicity resulting in an increase
of sanitation.
1.3 Aim:
The aim is to design a resort which is energy efficient and sustainable to the environment (only on
design basis), i.e., it does not harms the environment.
1.4 Objectives:
To analysis the basic services and relate it with the energy efficient measures of the building.
To analysis basic technical functions of the spaces and their inter relationship in a Green Hotel.

To analysis the basic knowledge of the technological measures in regards with spaces which
would help in creating a sustainable and energy efficient envelop of the hotel.
To analysis and implement about the basic sustainable measure in design related to orientation,
wind and sunlight which could help in creating a sustainable environment for the building.
1.5 Site:
The site is on a flat topography, Located in Coorg in Karnataka, Being in a strategic
location with unmatched accessibility, convenience and proximity to important
destinations. It is a 10acres site.

1.6 Methodology:
The methodology adopted will be:
Library study:
Library study involving study of resort principles, space allocation, their relationships, latest amenities,
future trends and anthropometrics.
Net study:
Net study for the better understanding of building materials and the hotel services.

Prescribed by Karnataka Bye laws and Ministry of tourism ( gov. of India ) to be followed in the design
aspects of the project.
Case study:
Study of various resorts of Coorg in Karnataka, for the assessment of special requirements and
understand the interrelationship of various components involved to make a practical and feasible design
project.
